I have something very similar and there is a litttle banner that says "washables"! Did it say anything in the margin along the selvage? Many old preprinted embroidery pieces have a whole blurb about who manufactured them,title, color keys, etc... It turned out really well and looks great regardless of how you decide to use it!

I order the patterns from a place called pattern Bee, great site, she sells them out of her home. Anyway thankyou for the notice, she does look like she is at a market from a long time ago. NANCY JO
