My friend and I are going to a Holiday open house at Hurd Mercantille in Rockford --it's a two hour drive so we decided to make it a mini overnight road trip. We'll be spending the night in Coeur d' Alene(which is closer to the Open house) This is where Maryjane's store is so of course we have to stop by:)

My daughter and I had the privilege of shopping at MJF store on both of our road trips that way, June 2011 and June 2013. It's a long way away for both of us, so it was indeed a special time. The second trip Mary Jane and Megan met us there, along with four other farmgirls we loaded into our van. Three of those gals live near CDA and one came all the way from Long Island. We enjoyed coffee and treats around a table in the store, chatting, laughing and having a wonderful time. I sure wish Robin (my daughter) and I could do it again . . . maybe someday.
JoAnn, soooooo glad you girls had a wonderful trip! What fun you must of had!

I didn't take any pictures inside the stores--still can remember a time that was not allowed and we were too busy looking at everything and savoring it. If you are on Facebook both Maryjanes Farm Store and Hurd Mercantile have wonderful pictures of the interior on them. Hurd Mercantile posted some of their decorating themes posted. For vintage trailer lovers if you click to about the fourth of pictures there's a wonderful display of vintage trailer decorations.

I have to agree with Grace. Do we get to see some pictures?

I mentioned that I was trying to get a room at the State Motel--after numerous time trying to call them and got either no answer or a busy signal I decided to just book a room at a chain motel. We drove by the State Motel and there was a sign on the door that said "This is no longer a motel" They just have people living long term there now. You would think somewhere on the internet there would be a mention of it. We live so close I think we'll have to visit more often. Winnie you are right it does seem like you stepped into one of MJ's magaznes or books.

JoAnn, it sounds like your trip was fantastic! Yes, a visit to MaryJane's store is always fun!! It feels like you are walking right into one of her magazines. It gives me the "feel" of being inside one of her books or magazines and the staff who work there are just the best Farmgirls ever!! From your comments, it sounds like you found many treasures too!!

Back from our road trip--I think it must be a sin to have as much fun as we did: ) Loved Maryjane's store --chatted with Sue who was working that day-what a nice person. Hurd Mercantille was fantastic. Ended up buying from both stores all the Christmas presents Jim is giving me for Christmas: ) Also found a darling trailer cookie jar at World Market and a couple of fun trailer related things from Hobby Lobby.

Patsy, We're thinking of staying at the State Motel on Sherman (it's the one whose chimney is shaped like Idaho. Do you know anything about it? I've been trying to call to make a reservation and no one is answering.

I was there once right after it opened. Also the one in Moscow before it closed. Always a fun visit.
