I just had to tell someone--I feel like I'm going to burst. I've been listening to Ray Lamontagne for a couple of years--when I'm happy, when I'm sad, when I'm frustrated, when I'm doing laundry. I heard him play on the World Cafe on NPR. Last night, my husband (who has never been a fan--probably because I think Ray hung the moon:)) and I drove to Louisville to see him last night at the Brown Theater. We had first row seats (my feet could touch the stage) and I guess I'm still in a state of euphoria, because I feel like I've just been to a revival. I love music, but rarely--no, never, has a performer or songs moved me the way this man's music does. His gift is immense, and he's powerful. He doesn't say two words on the stage, but his music speaks volumes. My husband was speechless and thanked me this morning for an "incredible evening"--the concert was even more special to be able to share it with him.
Treat yourselves to an early Christmas and start with his first cd Trouble and then Till the Sun Turns Black.
Just think of all of the roads there are...all of the things I haven't seen....yet. |

Wow! Another believer! Leah, seriously, that's the best concert I've attended since I was able to catch Bob Dylan doing small venues about 10 years ago--I was 22, and slept out on the pavement to get tickets.
I've listened to Ray LaMontagne ever since Trouble was released, but I was never able to see him. So glad I did, so glad you enjoyed it, too!

I just saw him on Austin City Limits this past weekend....i had never heard of him and LOVED what i heard!!

Morning, girls.
Yep, it was great to finally be able to share something (musicwise) with my husband--he's a working musician, and he's constantly buying, playing, reading and listening to and about music that it's difficult to bring him something he's never heard. He's still talking about the show, and what was once MY cd is now "ours" and he's keeping tabs on it!
Bramble--I'm so jealous--I listen to The World Cafe everyday at my desk on our local public radio station, WNKU (89.7). I'd love to go to see a taping because I really appreciate the music that's on...stuff you wouldn't ever hear on regular radio. A few weeks ago, some local friends a band called The Hiders, were played. It's a great vehicle for bands who don't fit in to the mainstream. David Dye is so great, too, with his really droll voice--but he's really insightful, and totally immersed in his guests.

World Cafe is located in Philadelphia and affiliated with my favorite radio station WXPN. If you like him, you can listen to the station with it's live stream too. They play alot of people that don't get major airplay but are great nevertheless. We have been lucky enough to go to a bunch of performances there since Phila is less than an hour away on a good traffic day. I'm glad you had a great time at the show, live music is the best! Is your husband a convert now?
