 Hey farmgirls, I am back once again and though I loathe the term, I've gone through a big life re-invention. When I first joined the sisterhood in it's dawning days I had just won free of a terrible violent abusive marriage and spent many years in recovery healing mode with doubts, depression, and self worth issues. I had a bunch of health issues and gained a lot of weight. But now my Ex is in prison, I'm healthy and slim and constantly changing my hair colour/style again  , I'm with the love of my life and looking to pounce back into the game again. Early 50's, no kids, lots of critters, short, currently blonde and feisty. I've spent a lot of time in the last year with my mum-in-law. She lives way out in the middle of nowhere and papa-in-law has gone into managed care. At 90, she is equally feisty and we've come to enjoy each others spirit and joie de vivre and opinionated-ness; something that we had wrangled over in the past.
I suppose this is yet another reintroduction. I'm kind of a punk city girl gone hipster farmgirl. I'd classify myself as spiritual but not religious. My youngest sister calls me a hipster and a technogaian. I believe strongly in the importance of balance and in the interconnected life forces of the world and all of it's creations. My mate and I are looking at starting a micro dairy and I want to breed and raise miniature Jersey cattle. We have this dream of going to cheese festivals and fairs and showing off our cows and their cheeses  I'm also interested in native plants, permaculture, edible landscaping, horse and dog rescue (ok critter rescue!) sustainable and green living, technology that promotes a healthier world and community, history, gardening and packing as much fun and interest into every day as possible. If I let myself, I become addicted to social media and so I try to limit myself as best I can.
We are looking at land in our area and trying to find the right place. Far enough out to not be in the thick of town and close enough for him to get to his job with out driving all morning. I'm out of work, more or less, and trying to save up to get involved in the master gardener program in my area. It seems like fun. I'm currently researching farm/ag/sustainable ag grants to apply for and looking into the details of starting a micro dairy in my state.

Thank you for all of the warm welcome backs  I'm trying to catch up all the outside tasks and projects before autumn weather decides to arrive and soak up as much outdoors time as possible. We'll be cutting and putting up new trim on the house and I hope some window boxes too. We've also got to replace the carburetor on our old jeep and hopefully get it running again. IF the weather holds, I'll be building a winter house for our rooster. I like the handsome devil but he beats up the hens all of the time and so can't live with them. So, busy weekend! The house colour dried to a perky turquoise-teal. Brighter than I expected, but it's certainly cheerful  It'll look amazing with salmon or bright red flowers.
We've got our eye on a piece of property, but we're not sure that the people will want to sell it. We know the couple, but we aren't quite ready to broach the subject and make an offer. Crossing my fingers and toes!
Still in Idaho Marybeth! I'd hope to move back to Seattle, but as it turns out, we'll be staying here. I had to leave the flowers at my old home, but they were lovely Marianne, a micro dairy is going to be so much fun! Have you seen the mini cattle? The jersey cows are just the sweetest. I want to make soft molded cheeses, like Brie and St. Andre triple creams. Jersey milk is very high in milk fats and makes the best soft cheeses of that type, as well as cream, yogurt, sour cream, butter and ice cream Good thing I like exercise!
