honey hunk and i went to Louisville to get the rest of our shots for africa .. typhoid, yellow fever and malaria pills to take. i'm due for my second set of hep a and hep b still too .. already got pneumonia and flu .. lordy! wonder what all those ingredients are doing roaming around together in my system! DON'T want to think about it. but the health department informs me that i'd be in BIG trouble if even ONE little infected mosquito bit me .. and i didn't have these vaccines!

anyhoo .. after the shots, we went to our favorite movie theatre .. saw BABEL .. it was a real 'sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat' spellbinder. several stories were somewhat intertwined .. an interesting 'interconnected' concept. how our lives are sometimes touched by lives from the other side of the continent .. and we may or may not ever even know about it.

if any of you saw it or go see it .. let me know what you think. xo

went to a yummy dinner at a restaurant in the 'yuppie' part of town .. deeeeee-lish dish!

It sounds great, though for a moment I thought someone made a movie about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's life together I'll have to make arrangements to see it--this weekend, though, we're seeing the new Christopher Guest film, "For Your Consideration". If you've ever seen any of his others, "Waiting for Guffman", "Best in Show", "A Mighty Wind" (my fave), it's worth it to see this one, I think. I laughed my head off at the previews alone....

I bet you ate at Ramsi's Cafe on the World. It's one of my favorites, and they DO have food from all over. I love their parsnip fries. MMMMM. When you're next in town, and have a little dough, or are celebrating something or not, go to Lilly's. She is a James Beard award winning chef, and her menu is seasonal, and showcases local and small boutique specialty farms, and organic homegrown produce. I've had venison from Bourbon County and pork from Jessamine county, and veges from local Franklin Co. farms. All gorgeously displayed with tremendous detail to presentation. It's the only time that my husband has ever been silent through a meal because he was too busy eating!

Elsmere is about an hour and 20 minutes from downtown Lousiville..In January, we'll be coming to Pleasant Hill, near Harrodsburg, and always make a stop in Bardstown. Will your shop be open? I'd love love love to get together, Frannie!

Just think of all of the roads there are...all of the things I haven't seen....yet.

hi jonni ... bable has brad pitt and i think .. kate blanchett in it .. they are traveling through morroco on a tour bus (they are somewhat estranged at the time i believe) .. they have two children at home (in California .. near the Mexican border) .. who have a mexican nanny. there is a morrocan family with several children .. and a neighbor sells them a gun .. the kids do target practice and one of them aims at the 'bus' .. and hits kate blanchette .. they are NO WHERE NEAR a hospital .. and she is bleeding profusely ... meanwhile .. the nanny's son is getting married .. and the nanny wants desperately to go to her son's wedding in mexico .. not being able to find a babysitter .. she 'illegally' takes the children over the border .. and they get in a terrible situation (won't tell all here .. save some for the movie itself) .. AND .. they shoot to an asian country where there is a very pretty but troubled young deaf asian girl who has a wealthy father .. and her mother has recently died (there is some suspicion as to whether or not her father killed her mother) .. WHEW .. the 'stuff' she gets into! her father is a 'hunter' .. and had been to MOROCCO to hunt and GAVE the GUN to his guide .. (the one that he sold to the neighbor that was used to shoot the california lady) .. well .. you can see the subtle 'connection' between each of these stories. they are stories in their own right .. with just a 'connection' to all parts of the world where MANY LANGUAGES (hence the title of the movie ... BABEL) are spoken. do go see it.

i don't remember the name of the restaurant we went to .. it served foods from all over the world .. and was near the Baxter Theatre.

how close is Elsmere to Louisville .. or Bardstown .. or even better yet .. GREENSBURG?

oh do come visit .. let's get together sometime soon! xo

Babel...I can't quite place the film. I saw it on the marquis but didn't know what it was. Who is in it, Frannie?
Also, what yuppie yummy place did you eat at in Louisville? We go to Lilly's on Bardstown Road--I highly recommend it, and will be dining there tomorrow night myself. We're seeing a concert at the Kentucky Center.
