My best friend through high school was a girl that was one year ahead of me in school. She had three younger sisters, one of them the same year as I. Her family went to the same church as my family and we just had lots of good times together.

We stayed in touch for many years after high school when I went to college, got married, had kids, etc. She married later than I did, but I remember her coming to visit us when we lived in Phoenix when my daughter, Robin, was a few months old . . would have been spring 1972.

Many years later, she and her hubby and daughter came to visit us in Colorado. It had to have been in the 1980s because it was after we moved back to Colorado from Arizona and had built our log house.

I haven't seen her since and somewhere along the line we lost contact with each other. I remember a Christmas card I sent to her came back to me as "addressee unknown". That was a long time ago and I never heard from her again with a new address.

Just this spring a mutual friend of ours that was the same year in high school as her called me to find out if I had any info. She was organizing their class reunion here. Of course, I had no info, but she was able to contact one of our friend's aunts and get an address and phone number. She called me with that info and I wrote my friend a letter about a month ago. Yesterday I got a letter from her with a recent photo of her and her hubby. I immediately recognized her handwriting . . . beautiful!

I am tickled all shades of pink to be back in contact with my high school best friend!! She, too, is looking forward to being in touch again. She lives in Ohio and has health issues so I doubt I'll ever see her again this side of heaven, but at least we can write or call. It's been waaaaaaayyyyy too long!

Just wanted to share and thanks for listening!

I don't recall if I shared an email address with my friend when I wrote the first time, but I will for sure when I write her again. I don't know that she has email . . . but you never know.

Mary Jane, I'll bet that just made your day . . in all kinds of ways!
I just encourage you girls, if you have a good friend you've lost contact with and don't know their whereabouts, see if you can find some way to contact them.
A relative that you can reach, perhaps a mutual friend (as in my case), and like Linda says, internet search engines!
It's such a blessing!

I was finally able to get hold of my best friend in high school through the FB page for my 50th HS reunion. We have spoken on the phone and will see each other in September before the reunion.

Judy - If you PM me her maiden and married names I will try and find her using some of my search engines. I've been on the search committee for some of the missing HS classmates for the reunion. Maybe I can help find her for you.

Such a heartwarming story...thank you so much for sharing with us...I have not saw my best friend in high school since 1980...all I know is that she lives somewhere in Florida...but I have never been able to get in contact with anyone to give me her address...I pray that somehow...someway...that God will make a way for us to reconnect...I think about her so much and wonder how she is doing...nothing like a best friend and great memories!!!

Hugs!

CeeJay,
I was sitting in the co-op deli last week grabbing a quick bite to eat when a woman walked through the door and right up to me saying, "MaryJane"?

When both our children were wee ones we'd put together a little daily summer school with a third woman and her children. Every now and then I come across the photos of that summer and wonder about her (she was married to the local Methodist minister at the time). Anyway, we sat for the longest time catching up and it felt like 30 years hadn't passed. Wonderful indeed!!

Oh, Mary Beth that was sad! I am so sorry. It is easy to get caught up in Life and just neglect what your heart
prods you to do. We have ALL been guilty of that at one time or another...you don't stand alone.

Warm Hugs,
Peggy

Wonderful that you all connected. Anybody wondering about old friends don't wait and wonder. Go for it. I had a super friend and we lost touch somehow and I thought about her for so long . I knew her folks moved to Friday Harbor--that's an island out in the Almost Ocean waters between Washington and Canada. I knew her father was well know so I wrote her folks a letter just addressed with the Dad's name and Friday Harbor, Washington. Lo and behold they got it and then after telling me they were so glad to hear from me they told me the devastating news that Barbara had passed from cancer just the year before. I was so upset with myself for procrastinating.
Just sayin'

That is great, CeeJay. Reconnecting with long lost friends is a wonderful experience.
My 50th HS reunion is this September, and they set up a FB page that we are reconnecting on. It is great to find out what people have been doing all these years. It sure doesn't feel like it's been 50 years. LOL!

C.J. that is Amazing to finally be able to reconnect. I hope you have many wonderful letter and phone conversations.

My Best friend from Jr. High and High School...I was able to reconnect with via Facebook a year and a half ago. We were
both shocked to find out how different we are as Adults. I am very conservative because of my faith and she is very
liberal. We both became Teachers but in different fields. She teaches young kids and is in the Administrative
side of Education also. I became a Teacher in a Bible College, Church and Women's Ministries. ~ I am happy to have the
opportunity to know the direction her life took...but she is not so happy about how conservative I am. LOL!

Thanks for sharing!!!

Love and Hugs,
Peggy
