Gosh I love mason jars. For everything. Back in the 90's when I first got married, I used them as drinking glasses before that was common place. Friends either thought I was nuts or really creative, and now they are everywhere.

Today I went to Joann fabrics. Now they have...wait for it...RED, CERAMIC mason jars with a ROOSTER on front. I had to have one. Red, mason jar, and a chicken?! How could I pass that up? I replaced the soap dispenser I had made from a mason jar with the new red jar for hand soap by the kitchen sink. So cute!!!

What will they think of next? Here it is. Sorry, tried to edit my reflection out but I think you can still see how cute the jar is!

Thanks! This one is a solid ceramic. I love it!

I wondered about the transparent glass from Ball. I would have used the blue for drinking glasses. I have a vase mason jar from flowers delivered but only use it for flowers. I wondered how the blue stays or if it comes off eventually.

Nicole

I've spray painted a few, and it works pretty good. Not for canning, but for decorating.. Pastels for baby showers, red white and blue for patriotic.
But I wouldn't have been able to pass that up Nicole

Girls, the clear colored ones...do you use those for canning or just decorating?

I saw the purple jars at Tractor Supply yesterday. I still have some blue ones and did not get the green last year. We don't have a local Joanns and I checked but they don't have them online. Have to see if I can find one elsewhere. I love the red and have it in my kitchen as the accent color. :)

Thanks! My best girlfriend and I went in together for one thing. We both bought extras, but they have some cute, cute stuff. Love that DH noticed it right away and liked it. :)

CJ I heard the ball jars are purple this year! I could just kick myself for not picking some up when they had blue!

My daughter and I were in Walmart this morning & found the purple pints, made by Ball. She bought a half dozen!

Cool! I wouldn't have thought to make a soap dispenser out of it ~ very creative & useful.

How about making a hanging flameless candle holder out of it? Or centerpiece for holiday decoration. Once the ideas start coming it's hard to stop them.

I'm in love, that is the cutest thing ever! I have always been a Mason jar fan myself, though I have yet to put up my first canned good! (That's coming, I hope). I acquired most of mine years ago for free when people were just trying to get rid of them. I've always used them for storing dried beans, grains, you name it. But I haven't crafted with them -- now I'm inspired. Thanks for sharing! :)

Happy Day!
