Hi girls!

Help! My son's graduation party is less than three weeks away! I have been so busy between wrapping up homeschool documentation, college paperwork, appointments and the graduation ceremony itself, that I have completely lost track of time! To make matters worse, my creativity well has run dry! Do you all have any creative ideas for decorations and favors - or even food! - that you would be willing to share? I'm willing to make everything myself, and will have plenty of time to do so starting next week... Please help me! I'll be grateful for ANYTHING!!!

Thanks so much!

Hugs -

Sounds like the party is shaping up! You can make tassels of any yarn that you can find in the right colors. For another activity, you could have a set of white pillowcases and fabric markers and ask people to write a note. That would make a souvenir for your son to take to college that has a little bit of love from everyone who comes to the party. Guests at the party will also have fun reading it. You could also do a trivia game, either about your son, or his college, or both. I hope you'll post some pictures of the celebration!

These are great ideas, girls! Thank you!

We're having it at a hall in order to accomodate older family members' needs, so streamers are not allowed; HOWEVER, I do have some balloon centerpieces in storage that we used a couple of years ago for my stepdad's birthday celebration, Amy. I think I'll pull those out, change the balloon, frilly picks and tissue colors, and incorporate something with a graduation theme...

Where do I find the tassel keyrings? Or do I make them? Any suggestions?

I love the picture idea, too! I am thinking I might do some sort of pennant banner with fun pictures of him through each of the grades, and hang it between decorated ladders over the dessert table. On the table, I'm thinking I'll put a larger photo of one of his graduation pictures, and use his cap and tassel to decorate the frame...

I am definitely going to incorporate a taco dip and chips, and I was thinking maybe we could rent a soft-serve machine to create the sundae bar - people would get a charge out of that. If not, I may make mini ice cream cake cups. I purchased a ton of those little paper ice cream cups with wooden spoons a couple of years ago on clearance. If I layer neopolitan ice cream, crushed double stuff oreos, fudge topping and then more ice cream on top, I can "frost" the top with colored cool whip and add a nifty little cupcake topper to complete the "cakes." I just don't know how much time I'll have to do that. I'll need an ungodly amount of those, as my husband's family is HUGE... Maybe the sundae bar would be better... How would I keep the ice cream cold, though? Any ideas?

Outdoors, the hall does have bocce ball pits, but they use them for competitions, and I don't want the kids to ruin them. I'm not sure whether I can set up a net or not, but, if so, volleyball would be perfect!

Beverly, my son LOVES your bacon-wrapped hotdog and sliders idea! He said you just can't go wrong with anything bacon! You are his hero! LOL! We won't have access to a grill or anything, though... I could premake the slider burgers and keep them hot in a warming tray, right? Same with the hotdogs. He would also like to have some fried chicken, and some of our friends are insisting it's not a graduation party without Italian beef... I think I can swing all of this, though. I'm definitely liking this! Thank you!!!

What else can I do?

I also would like some ideas as to how to keep people entertained if we get stuck indoors. Not everyone knows each other. I'm sure people will mingle and socialize, but I'd like to do a couple of things to keep us all engaged together. I was thinking it might be fun to have a mini "roast" where people could come up and tell their favorite funny stories of our son (We have a million of them, believe me!). Any ideas?

Thanks SO much for your help, girls! I really appreciate it! You have such great ideas! I knew you would!!!

Love those ideas......if you don't go for the taco bar how about a sundae bar at the end of the meal.
For activity there's always volleyball using a huge ball.
Hmmmmm......I think what is popular now is bacon wrapped hotdogs .Add sliders, baked beans(Bush makes a new kind) potato salad, and cole slaw ,and you are all set.
Hope this got your creativity in 1st gear.

Well, how about simple balloons, bunting and streamers in the school colors the of the college he's going to attend? You could do favors of a little framed photo of him with the frame painted in the school colors, and maybe some stickers with the year or some fun graduate stickers. Tassel keyrings are a fun keepsake favor too. Food wise, how about a taco bar. Just a few easy, fast idea -- hope some of them might work for you.
