Anyone else seen the moon tonight? I was driving and it was "following" me and then an owl flew overhead. I wonder what the owl thinks when he sees the moon? Does he wonder,"Hmmm...it's that big light in the sky again. Time to hunt!" I bet small animals are extra cautious as they're more easily seen when the moon is full. Watch out for werewolves!

Marilyn,
We have a LOT of skunks and they are out a LOT late spring into the fall. I can't tell you how many I've had to outrun when I come on them in the morning or evening hours . . UGH!

CeeJay -- I had forgotten hearing that about skunks and a full moon. On Wednesday morning I spotted a rather flat skunk next to the curb on my morning walk uptown. Some of those old wives' tales have a great basis in fact. I guess that's because some of us old wives are pretty danged smart!

I have a lunar calendar (change it with the new moon instead of the month) so I'm almost always aware of when the moon is full, to watch out for it. I did see it Tuesday night, but last night I was on the porch with my husband around 10:30, and we watched it rise. It was huge and pink and beautiful. So happy we got to see that.

We've had complete cloud cover for days, but it might clear later tonight. Sure would like to see that moon!

This is called the strawberry moon. It appears full and has a slightly pink tint when we first see it. It appears full for 3 days. I was sitting by the campfire enjoying it last night.

Time to make more soap! I was at an auction when I first started selling soap and a little old Amish lady came up to my table and said "Do you make soap by the light of a full moon?" I said "No mam." She explained that soap made by the light of a full moon always turns out right. I took it to heart and would plot out my soap making days according to the phases of the moon!

We noticed our full moon over the bay last night with an eerie kind of orange haze surrounding it. What would cause that kind of luminosity do you suppose?

Yup, full moon. I hope it doesn't mean the skunks will be out roaming around!
