hey there farmgirl sisters...
I am (ISO) in-search-of, a book by Trixie Belden, called the "Red Trailer Mystery"...

There are 3 different front gust covers,,, but this is my favorite one.
I had spotted one in a Thrift, but it was in such poor condition that I didn't buy it... thou now I wish I had... oh well, I snooz, I loose...
If any one comes across one or has one they would like to sell or barter, please let me know..
There is another version, an older [one I think], that has a picture of an older red trailer on the dust cover... I wouldn't mind that one.. just not interested in the 3rd rendition... too 1970's ish..

I have read every Trixie Belden book ever published. I LOVE them. I had them all and sold them at a yard sale probably 20 years ago. I do come across them from time to time at thrift stores and just have to smile.

The website is abebooks.com if you want to take a look. Still haven't heard back from the seller on that one.

AbeBooks has some and I asked one of the sellers to send me a picture of the cover of the book. They didn't have one uploaded. It is a 1965 edition.

Wow, that is pricey! I will keep my eye out for you when I go antiquing. There has to be a reasonable one somewhere floating around. Have you looked at Abe books? I just remembered them.

Grace,
I know they can get pricey. I hadn't heard that about the Nancy Drew books. I believe the black covers are the earliest editions. Very hard to come by in decent shape. Hope you can get a good copy reasonable. Good Luck!

about Nancy - Nancy Drew Mystery Stories, the BEST!

ah ha! I knew if I searched long enough I would find it... lol!
here is a site that will tell you about the original author,,,

have fun reading... I thought it was really interesting..

Mildred Wirt Benson and Harriet Adams are considered the two most important Nancy Drew authors, ...

Nancy Drew Mystery Stories
By Carolyn Keene

The Nancy Drew Mystery Stories were first published in 1930 by Grosset and Dunlap. The original 56 stories were written by various people under the pseudonym of Carolyn Keene:
#1-7,11-25, and 30 by Mildred Wirt Benson
#8, 9, and 10 by Walter Karig
#26 by George Waller, Jr.
#27 by Margaret Scherf #28 by Wilhelmina Rankin
#29 by Alma Sasse
#31, 33-56, and revised #1-34 by Harriet Adams
#32 by Charles Strong

The writers were hired by the Stratemeyer Syndicate and followed outlines that were provided by the Syndicate. Mildred Wirt Benson and Harriet Adams are considered the two most important Nancy Drew authors, and both women had a profound effect on the Nancy Drew series. However, Walter Karig is also considered important because the three volumes he wrote are favorites with many readers.

Denise,
if memory serves me correct, the original Nancy Drew was created/written by a man, then his daughters took over and they had several other (ghost)writers under the authors name... there was even a court battle on who the actually true author of the N.D. books was... I found a book at the Library, titled,,,(I think) Who is the real Nancy Drew... or something like that... that told the whole history... none the less, I would give my eye teeth to have the whole (early) collection...

I am watching some T.B. Mystery of the Red Trailer.. books on ebay,,, just need to get up the courage to bite the bullet and buy one...

The only places I have found any of the old Trixie Belden books are at antique shops. I have only found one. I also keep my eye out for the Candy Kane books by Janet Lambert. Very hard to find the old ones. I collect old Nancy Drew with the black covers and the Hardy Boys with the tan colored covers. Just love the old editions best!

yep, I searched ebay and other internet venues,, and I have seen the re-issues,,, but I was hoping to get an original old issue that shows a wee bit of wear, that some little girl had loved reading her TB adventure book... I want to display it in my lil trailer.... and then some evening while out Glamping, I can snuggle down in my feather bed, in my trailer, flash light in hand, reading glasses perched on my nose,,, and find my inner little girl while reading... :>)

This post made me smile and think of the time when I was a young girl and read all the Trixie Belden books I could find. I hope you will be able to find the original editions. Their covers are priceless!

They have all been re-issued recently with more modern covers, but if you are interested in a particular cover, ebay may be the only way to find something that specific.
