I just love wool socks,,, but the last pair I purchased, I wore through the heels.... uugh!
So what do you think... can I, should I make a pair of fingerless gloves from them? Has anyone done that??

I was given a pair (red ones)of fingerless gloves... and love them,,, so I am wondering if I can repurpose the socks into gloves...

Here's how I'm making a pair. I cut the foot off and just used the leg/cuff part. I folded it under about an inch at the finger end and I'm going to crochet around the thumb to reinforce and add a little bit of cover and warmth for the first joint on the thumb.

I plan on using wool, I think it will be more comfortable.

I use the foot that I cut off for cleaning. It works great to dust blinds and furniture legs.

I think I will brave it and fold the 'thumb' area over (tuck it in so to speak) and then do a small Blanket stitch around the hole... then I will cut off the top portion, and do likewise...
I luv wool socks and as you can see, I wear them to death,,, the heels anyways... lol!

now the question is, do I use embroidery floss or wool yarn?

Hole-y socks, Katmom! Your hole-y socks look just like mine! LOL! I love your idea, Gracie! SO smart! I just may have to switch to wool socks so I can have fingerless gloves, too! :) Hugs - Nini

I say go for it!
Maybe just reinforce the area you cut with a matching/contrasting thread.
Could be cute!
Let me know how you do.

God has a bigger plan for me than I have for myself.
