Posted - Feb 18 2015 : 2:22:49 PM Look what we got this week ... A handy, dandy how-to DIY guide from Connie McCaffery (naturemaiden, Sister #673): How to Select, Service, Repair & Maintain Your Vintage Sewing Machine.
Thanks so much, Connie! It looks like a great book, and it will sure come in handy with all the vintage machines we have here at the farm.
Read more about it and order your very own copy here: http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=67658
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, red wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming 'WOO HOO, what a ride!'"

Posted - Mar 18 2015 : 11:39:52 AM Wow, I can't believe I didn't see this post sooner. I hope you find it useful. I'm actually working on an expanded edition (things I didn't think of adding in the first one, and little tweaks here and there). I looked over the book for months before publishing, then realized a few things I wanted to change and add after the fact. It's kinda tough when your a one-woman show. Would of been nice to have someone else look it over first LOL.
Here's my page in case anyone wants an eBook or print version. http://www.thriftyfarmgirl.com/how-to-repair-service-and-maintain-a-vintage-sewing-machine
Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Posted - Feb 19 2015 : 07:26:11 AM Thanks MaryJane for Connie's info. I know you will put her book to good use.
Even when I purchase something for myself I always feel like it is a gift when I get it. There's just something about getting it through the mail that makes the ordinary feel special.

We're excited to keep this handy and are just so very impressed with the quality of the advice and the gumption it took for Connie to put her knowledge into a book for helping farmgirls everywhere. What's your next how-to book going to be Connie??????
