I will be hosting a Ladies Tea next month, so this morning I started pulling out some of my sweet books on Teas... my favorite ones being by Emilie Barnes.

For my friends who know me, know I love my afternoon cup of tea.. as well as attending High Teas...

Today I set aside on my table, about a dozen books to read, ( I have more stashed in the Tea Cabinet)... to peruse through, this afternoon while enjoying my Tea.
I am searching for sweet recipes and decorating ideas for a lovely group of ladies, (about 14)..

Whether it is a sweet, quiet afternoon tea with 1 friend or a dozen,, it is heavenly to share a cup of tea, a sweet treat and laughter.

You don't have to dress up, or be fussy, it's not about fancy tea cups and Harp music, but rather about being together, sharing and enjoying the moment in friendship.
"Sharing Cups of Kindness and our hearts with those we love".

Take time to have your own little tea party, be it with a grand~kiddo, a neighbor or even just a quiet moment for your self, to day dream, reflect, or just listen to the birds chirping in a near by tree..
Just enjoy the moment.

and not only are they wonderful for tea, but they make wonderful gifts... wrap them up with a sweet silver spoon, some teabags and a package of cookies, or a sweet little book of poems...

Heather, don't limit yourself to a vtg. matching tea cup and saucer set,,, I love finding then mix & matching tea cups and saucers from Thrift stores,,, that is what the one in the photo is. Not a matched set, I found the tea cup at one Thrift and the saucer at another, if I recall, I paid 49cents for the saucer and 99cents for the tea cup. So when I drink my tea from this set, it really brings a smile to my face.

Love your beautiful tea cup Grace. I love to have a tea treat for myself, but after reading this I would love to have a tea party! I think I need to visit the local antique shop and see if I can't find myself a beautiful tea cup and saucer. I think it will just be the thing to make this cold winter a little warmer :) I hope you have a great party. It sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun.

Cath, I sort of recall the story about the tea cups, and yes, we need to remind ourselves and those near & dear to us about their importance.
Emilie Barnes is such a woman of faith and graciousness.

Grace, I love Emilie Barnes' books, too. In one of them, I can't remember which one, she tells of how she decorates all her rooms with dishes and tea cups and how dishes don't have to be just for dining or kitchen decor. She also tells of a story about her grandchild knocking down a shelf or something like that and it had precious heirloom tea cups on it and they shattered. She gulped and held back any angry words and told the child that she loved them more than the tea cups.

I gotta say, I've had to choose to do that so many times during the years of raising my kids. I'm so thankful I read that story years ago and it formed a positive anchor in my mind. One of my daughters, adult now, still remembers all the times I had to tell her that I loved her more than the thing she broke.

Oh Penny, just make yourself a nice cup or mug of tea, and allow yourself a few minutes of "Me Time" to relax and read or sew or just day dream.. It can be as fancy or as simple,,, what ever you prefer.

I had a nice noon tea today, and I took the liberty of watching a cute DVD,,, It has been a dark, rainy weekend and today it is cold and damp,,, (more rain due in) so it was the perfect afternoon to treat myself to tea & a DVD... and a Blueberry muffin!

Oh Grace, I just know your tea will be wonderful because you have that twinkle in your words which means to me you really want things to be special. I'm like CJ, if I lived there or was visiting I would come for sure. Have fun.

Oh, Gracie! Hosting and participating in a tea is one of my all-time favorite things to do! Whether it's for special one-on-one time with my Mom, getting together with my friends, or having a bunch of little girls over with their dollies and teddy bears, tea time always creates a treasure trove of memories. Tea time for me began with my Grandma when I was a little girl; she could ALWAYS find a reason to share a cup of tea. I guess that's why I enjoy having a tea so much - I want everyone to feel as special as she made me feel. Tea is like a warm hug from a dear old friend - winter, spring, summer or fall, it's there to inspire, uplift, comfort and console. Add a little fancy and finery, and it's even that much better! Have a wonderful, wonderful time celebrating with your girlfriends! Hugs - Nini

Grace...sounds lovely my friend. I like to go to Tea Parties...but I don't like to Hostess
them. So, wish I lived close and could join you. I am sure it will be a delightful time and
you will have oodles of fun.

I'm drinking organic mint tea while reading this. I too wish I lived close enough to join your tea party. Have fun! My favorite book about tea recipes & rituals are, "Tea & Crumpets" by Margaret M Johnson. The pictures are beautiful in this book. Makes me want to dive in and indulge!
