Last Sept my dog Daisy died and I just found out yesterday that our other dog Oliver is sick. We took him to the vet because he was limping, only to find out he has cancer in his leg, chest, and his kidneys are failing. His liver is enlarged and he has blood in his urine. He's lost weight. We thought we at least had a couple of years left with Oliver. The vet says he has months to live. If he continues to refuse food and doesnt move, who knows how long he really has. I just can't believe that this is happening. Ollie won't eat. I just made him special food and he walked away.

As much as I've tried, I'm still not over losing Daisy. We are all so devastated.

I can't believe how much this hurts. I'm physically sick.

Jenny, I wondered, how are you and your family doing?

I haven't been around much, but I am starting to feel better. Funny, I re-read this post and it was like re-living it again. Jenny you went through this at about the same time. Are you okay?

Dear Connie ~ How very sorry I am for you & your family. I have been where you are. The feeling of being helpless. The heart ache of losing a Dear Friend, a member of the family. It is never easy to say farewell.
Take heart in knowing he will go across the Rainbow Bridge, to be among others who will Welcome him & he can run free without pain.

I'm so sorry.
We had to put our Rusty down this Saturday. It's very painful.
Our house is so quiet. I come home from work and forget he's
not there. It's heartbreaking.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Ollie and Rusty can play together.

God has a bigger plan for me than I have for myself.

Ollie is in heaven with Daisy :(

we took him to the vet today to be euthanized. he was suffering so much.
He went quietly in my arms. I am thankful for that. This hurts so much.
Thank you everyone for your support.

Nini, things are not good. we took Ollie to the vet yesterday for fluids. He lost 2 lbs in the past week. He barely eats or drinks and now has to be carried everywhere. He is so weak. It's awful. Trying to manage his pain. We almost took him to the vet monday because he thought it was time, but then he started eating so we didnt go. Not sure what to look for, of course dont want to do put him down prematurely. it's real hard. I cant believe my buddy wont be here for Spring. Im real sad. I appreciate everyones kind words.

Thinking of you and praying for both of you.
We are going through the same type of thing with our Rusty. I can't bear to be without him but feel guilty for letting him be uncomfortable. Our pets are our children too. Just breaks my heart when I think about it.

God has a bigger plan for me than I have for myself.

Oh, Connie - I'm so sorry... Our Pawlee did that bounce back thing quite a few times, too. Each time, we hoped, but we knew. Ollie is just so blessed to be so loved. I am sure he feels your heart in his, and that is surely what is carrying him through. I just wish I could be there to give you a hug and help YOU through, dear sister. So hard. Sending much love - Nini

Connie, So So Sorry to hear about Ollie! It does just feel like yesterday when I learned of your Daisy. A few years ago we lost our SWEET rotwieler, Nika, to cancer at age 6. She went totally blind before we took her in to finally be put down. The funny thing is, I tried SOOOO hard to give her a healthy, long life! I made all her food myself (as I'm sure a lot of you do), thinking that would help avoid the cancer 'bug'. Not so. My sweet son, I think he was 8 at the time, made me a small clay sculpture of Nika that I kept on my window sill. Just looking at that sculpture made me feel so much better! It really eased me through the grieving process. Hope you can find something to ease you through the grieving process as well. Sending love and hugs to you!

Connie, the pic of you and Ollie is so precious. The look of love and comfort in his eyes as he gazes into yours tells the whole story. He feels loved and safe. You have given him a full and vibrant life.

I'm praying for you today.

We just lost our Shelbee the day after Christmas. We had to make the decision to end her suffering. It is a very hard decision to make. There is nothing that anyone can say to make it easier. I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. I literally feel your pain, both physical and emotional. Grieving is hard on us humans. Make sure to take care of yourself through this process.

My prayers are with you and your family.

"At what cost" is up to you sweet lady and I have been in your shoes and know I will be again. Each time I say "no more" and then I realize God has given us such a huge capacity to love and when I look back at the years my little pals have walked with me and my family I know that they have had the best life they could have and in the process we have been so very blessed. All of our hearts walk beside you in this journey dear one. We will pray through our tears as all women have done forever.
