We have an annual bon fire.

Each year the pile gets bigger. I've been building it for a few weeks, adding sticks and small limbs. I'll be using my tractor to add all the large pieces.

About 30-40 people attend. Several of the attendees are friends that we've lost consistent touch with but always show up every year for the fire.

I put out 'pokers' for everyone to cook their hot dogs and roast marshmallows. FUN!

My husband and I are here in Iceland and we will spend New Years Eve with a family. Apparently, it will include a traditional dinner, bonfire, and lots of fireworks. All the stores close tomorrow at noon and everyone celebrates . I am looking forward to seeing what it is like here in this very cold little island way up here in the Arctic and North Atlantic oceans .

Staying home and watching the granddogs. My daughter and her hubby going over to his bosses house and most likely stay over. My other daughter and SNL working. Be safe.

Hugs,

There's sleet in our forecast so I will be cozy warm in my rocker with a glass of my favorite wine, Maggie in my lap, and hopefully a good mystery on TV.

I hope to be sewing some during the evening.....working on a quilt. Also, soak some black-eyed peas for New Years Day. Work here on the ranch means up early to feed and water critters so I will probably have my head on the pillow at midnight.....but that's ok with me coz I have my Vietnam Vet coming for black-eye peas and turnip greens on the 1st (after my chores). I can ususally hear and see the fireworks in the distance so I get a bit of a show without leaving the farm. One year it was really warm and I put a blanket out in the pasture and did some star gazing and fell asleep before the fireworks. I am happy to have my country celebration.....just add a glass of wine and I'm good. Stay safe.

We celebrate my Mom's birthday- the family gathers and we celebrate MOM- it is great fun!!

God has promised strength for the day, rest for the labor, light for the way, grace for the trials, help from above, unfailing sympathy and undying love.

We are here to love each other, serve each other and uplift each other.

We don't go out or do anything on New Year's Eve. I'll spend it chatting in a virtual world game.

I would much rather stay home, but we have been invited to spend NYE at some very dear friends,,, complete w/pot luck and BYOB or non-B...
So there will be 3 generations hanging out under the Oak Trees, laughing, eating and playing the 'White Elephant' game... Now I can get rid of some tacky 'items',,, only to be replaced by a new tacky item... lol!
But because the fog sets in up here in the mountains, we will call it quits shortly after 9pm our time(West Coast) , which will be mid-night East Coast time,,, so hubby & I can head home, put on a pot of Java and play an aggressive game of Yahtzee and Tri-ominos...
I luv celebrating in the New Year with my favorite guy, my sweet hubby.

We do not like to be out and about in this city on New Years Eve. Minneapolis is a nice place with kind and caring people and the city and county do their best to keep impaired drivers off the road but there is always that one person who doesn't take heed. We will be staying in for New Years Eve and probably watch movies. On New Years Day we will be going to the drummer's place (DH has a band) and enjoy some good Russian hospitality. I may even recruit his wife to join the farmgirls.

A NYE bonfire sounds so inviting. If our temps warm up, I think we might do the same thing.
