Posted - Dec 17 2014 : 7:23:04 PM Oh my stars, I have been in search of "Motel chairs" for I don't know how long,,, I can usually find 1-2 that match... but a set of 4? I was hoping to find 'clam back' ones... but I am so tickled to get these...
they are in need of sanding and painting and a few bolts replaced.. but WOWzers! and the best part.... FREE! yepadoodle... A neighbor was clearing out his mom's barn.. and set them out for Free... WHoot Whoot! I am still doing the Happy Dance... Soon as Spring arrives I will get them cleaned up!

Posted - Dec 20 2014 : 10:28:37 AM I was watching a Video Log about Vtg. Trailer Courts.. and spotted these types of chairs.. We use to call them Grandma/pa chairs cuz it seemed like every grandparent had a set on their patio... lol! But if you look back at a lot of mid '50 - '60's photo, of Motel Courts you see them a lot as well..
Oh, and lets not forget the ever lovable iconic Flamingo! lol!

Posted - Dec 20 2014 : 02:35:02 AM They are beautiful! My grandparents had chairs like that on the porch of their small farm. I suppose if you didn't like the stenciling, you could paint over them. |

Posted - Dec 19 2014 : 11:25:45 PM I am actually toying with the idea of doing some stenciling on them after I re-paint them... but first have have to wait for Spring weather to arrive so I can sand & paint them..

Posted - Dec 18 2014 : 09:37:38 AM Oh Nini,,, I have "Junk-dar" lol!
I think these will go out back around the trailers... We bought some reproduction ones that we have been using around the trailers but now we have original ones! Haven't decided what color yet, probably something to match our trailers, Pink, Aqua or yellow...

Posted - Dec 17 2014 : 10:58:06 PM My grandmother had clamshell chairs. We sold them for $3 a piece when we were cleaning out her house. You got a GREAT deal. They will work up so nice.
