I recently met a young student from China who did a cross-country tour of the US and became enchanted with the idea of real working cowgirls. She even bought a cowgirl hat -- not the fashionista kind, but the kind real working cattle women wear.

So now, she's back in China and her tour guide wants to send her a movie about cowgirls but naturally, women in Westerns tend to be barely incidental to the plot. I thought of the remake of True Grit, but the female lead wasn't a cattle woman.

So here's your chance to be a Cowgirl Ambassador to China and help a lovely young lady in college over there get some education about how her hat would have looked "on the job" in the Old West, or today. Any ideas for movies that tell a cowgirl tale?

Thanks, Marybeth. I will look and enjoy. Unfortuately, access to the intent is heavily controlled in China. She will not be able to visit that site herself. She can get DVDs of movies through the mail, though, though, or they pirate them there. (Count your American blessings.)

Go visit my daughter's blog http://ritzvilleranchlife.blogspot.com/ She is a real working cowgirl. She lives on a very large cow/calf operation and they do most of the work on horseback. Take a look. MB
