Devastating storms tore through our area yesterday that unfortunately left two dead and many people with injuries. Not to mention those who are now coping with substantial damage to homes and property. Many who managed to avoid injury or damage are finding themselves without power 24 hours later. We were already struggling with flood waters in many areas, but this has put everything over the edge so to speak. I personally have a basement that now needs new carpet due to 2 inches of water, but I am thankful that it wasn't worse and insurance will most likely take care of most expenses. We are exhausted and frustrated, but we're still here thank goodness!
I have also posted a prayer request on the other forum for the family of a 17 year old boy who lost his life after being swept away by flood waters while playing frisbee with a friend yesterday (some may have seen the story on GMA today). The friend thankfully survived being swept away himself and and being carried at least a mile down stream. Word is that he climbed out of the water and walked to a hospital that was nearby. Someone was watching over him, I think. Please remind your loved ones to stay away from flooded areas and culverts during heavy rains. Most think of young children playing, but this is proof that flood waters can be extremely powerful and it can happen to anyone.

I, too, am praying! Seems like this year has been so full of tragedy with storms of every description.
I'm praying for those in the East Coast in this "Arthur" threat!
We in the southwest are hot, dry and in drought conditions!
PRAYING!

Oh Stephanie! How heart breaking! Definitely praying for all that were affected, especially the young man's family! As TS Arthur is giving us radians winds today, I will definitely be praying a lot of such tragedies!

Prayers for all of you. Water is so powerful and there's nothing you can do but get out of the way. How devastating for the 17 yo.

Stephanie...we have been watching some of this on the news. Chicago looked really bad today too. And now
with the Hurricane developing even more areas will be hit. It is so weird how we are all sweltering out
in the West and the rest of the Country is dealing with bad water situations.

Praying for everyone! Stay safe Steph and count your blessings that you only have a little water damage.

Love and hugs,
Peggy
