Hubby and I just celebrated our 20th anniversary and it was wonderful! We stayed home and hubby took a weeks vacation. He thought he didn't have any time left but I was on his employee page checking out his benefits package when I realized he had a weeks vacation do him. I had surgery last year, plus we had a few deaths in the family and a few other things pop up. We thought he had used it all up but what he actually used was his sick days! Anyway, we played with the idea of going on a cruise but there really wasn't enough time to plan for it.
So, we took the week off and stayed home and had a great time. We were holed up in the house then we'd go out and eat and walked and visited the library, and ignored the world. BLISS!!!! Hubby and I never had a whole week to ourselves. I feel so blessed that our loved ones just left us alone!
He's been asking what I wanted to do for Valentines Day and you know what? I don't want anything more. Heck, there is no way to compete with our anniversary week. NO WAY! I'm not a Valentines Day person anyway. It just doesn't "do it" for me. To be honest, anytime a woman has to put so much stock into one day to be validated, is sad. I just don't want to "share" a day of love with the entire known world, kwim? LOL!

Posted - Feb 13 2014 : 1:57:34 PM Tracy you are a very smart lady! I feel the same way about spending time with my DH and my DD. I also do not celebrate that holiday or any other for the same reason you mentioned and for my research on them as well not being in harmony with the Bible's teachings.
My DH is going to be semi-retiring next January and I am already making a list of things for him and I to do together that we have not been able to do since my Lyme disease.
I wish you many more Happy Anniversary's!
