There was a distinctive sound coming from the barn this morning, and it was not Sparta.

She is a he. Hm. We specifically ordered pullets last spring. Makes me wonder if I was cheated out of the extra cost for pullets.

Sounds like Carlita didn't appreciate having a boy sneak into the "girls' locker room!"

I have to share this tidbit.

I was out walking the dogs, and watching my chickens run around. I laughed my pants off.

I am sure that anyone driving by at the time, was wondering what was so funny.

One of our hens, Carlita, was chasing the rooster (the white, and newly discovered one) around in circles. Hilarious.

oh ya........I got 2 roosters out of 25 pullets ordered. Happened a couple years ago too. Makes me mad, when you pay extra for pullets and get roosters.

Yes, just discovered that one of the pullets was actually a roo yesterday. I think it'll be pot pie time soon.

It happened to us once too. We were left to wonder if the store wasn't so careful. It turns out it happens around here quite a bit. I have heard of plenty of people ending up with a crowing non pullet or two.
