12/09/13: Silky is doing well! She's very much a part of our family and we are enjoying her immensely. She's playful, loving, fun and has just settled right in.

We are having very cold weather right now and this is what she likes to do in the evening . . . in front of the pellet stove. Smart kitty!

Hi Farmgirls,
Many of you may remember that my kitty, Skye, disappeared the beginning of December. She had lived with us for 16 years and it was soooooo hard to come to grips with the fact she'd probably not come back. We actually think a predator . . . and we have MANY . . . got her.

Anyway, today I adopted "Silky". A black short-hair tortoiseshell with some coloration. She's young, probably not quite a year but has had one litter of 4 kittens. She's cuddly, friendly, sweet . . .she purrs and doesn't yowl a lot. She's also quite playful and it'll be fun to enjoy that.

She is a shelter kitty . . . we've adopted most of our pets from the shelter and she has to stay there until she goes to be spayed on Tuesday morning. I'll be able to go get her that afternoon when the procedure is done and she's awake enough to come home.

Happens to be that a local humane society, For Pet's Sake, was having a yard sale a couple miles down the highway from the shelter. We decided to see if they just might possibly have a kennel type enclosure suitable for her to have a little "Silky House" in our utility room. The Lord does provide . . . they did, perfect size, almost new and $15.00 We are grateful! And there was only this one!

Now we get other things in place so she can come and live with us on Tuesday afternoon. Appreciate your prayers for her spaying surgery and transition to our home!
Thanks for letting me share! She's good for my soul!
CJ

Silky now helps me make the bed . . . what fun!!!

Her mornings are spent sitting the office windows watching the birds in the tree outside. She can do that for hours!

This morning it was a merry chase in and out from the under the bed. I don't really want Silky under there. I was changing the sheets and going through the complete making the bed procedure. She was under the bed by the edge and kept touching (not hooking with claws) my feet as I walked around the bed. However, when I was done and wanted her out of there she wanted to be ornery about it. I won!!
During the day she really likes to sit in the window sills . . . so thst's where she is now. In the office window sill, keeping my hubby company. She's a lot of fun!

I agree, CJ--cats are awesome and fun to watch.
My friend is fostering 7 little kittens and boy, they are ball of
furry energy. You have to watch where you walk- always a kitty
underfoot.
Your Silky is just beautiful! So glad she's yours!

Jenny,
What a handsome fellow that Clem! Thanks for sharing!!
Aren't cats just so fun to watch. Thanks, also for the little toy you've sent, appreciated!

Silky checks the bathtub out regularly now. She's also getting to know me more and more as her "cat momma".
What fun!

This morning? Chasing spiders in the bathtub. I'm sure she'd bail out of there in a flash if I turned the shower water on! :D

CJ,

Please keep the pictures coming...I love to see a happy kitty...your posts and pictures remind me so much of my Sweet Kitty...I still remember all the sweet and funny things he would do...he loved boxes and baskets and heights...one day I couldn't find him anywhere...I kept calling and he never came to me which was very unusual...I was in the kitchen...looked up for some reason and he was on top of the refrigerator just lying there looking at me...he was such a silly cat...give Silky another big hug for me...

Hugs!

Judy

I like Silky..She seems like a happy kitty cat. I have a calico kitty named Misty. She has been in the house with me for 5 years. She loves to sleep in the window sill in my bedroom or either on the back of my couch. She keeps a close eye on me. She loves to play with Baxter the Boston Terrier. Have fun with Silky the cat!!!She so darn cute.

For all you cat farmgirls, thanks for letting me share. I'm probably driving some of you crazy.

Silky has moved into the basket that belonged to Skye. After it became apparent Skye wouldn't be returning, I made her basket into a place to put winter mittens, gloves, scarves, hats, earmuffs, etc. So, that's what is still in there . . . under Silky. No worries!

Thanks!
CJ
P.S. Sorry the pic is so fuzzy . .

Silky decided she liked this perch. I had fabric there and she insisted on being there so I moved the fabric and replaced it with a towel. She can keep a close eye on me while I'm sewing . . . about three feet away!

Silky enjoys sitting in the window sills looking outside. This is at the back of the couch in the living room.

For now, until she gets more mature and things are more settled, etc., etc. this is how she spends time outside. Exception is when I'm holding and petting her.

This evening, my hubby and I were eating supper on our deck. Silky does really well just roaming loose in our utilty room which is where she was . . until hubby went in and left the back door open.
Silky raced out and across the deck and a few few of the yard to an aspen tree and did not waste any time climbing the tree several feet higher than I could reach.
She looked down at me and told me all about it. Then she started her descent, slipped a bit and ended up hooking herself with one claw on one paw into the other paw OVER a branch. So she was just hanging there, yowling in pain, having "hooked herself". She was low enough now that I could reach her and unhook her. She's okay . . . silly cat!

Enjoying her more and more!

Last evening, while I was watching TV, Silky was cozy and content in my lap, snoozing away for over an hour!
Today we've had a few moments of the same through the day!
She is enjoying that little striped ball too!
