Posted - Jul 10 2013 : 09:06:49 AM Anyone remember the show the Waltons? I loved that show as a kid, one of the few my mom allowed me to watch unsupervised, lol. Anyway, I read that Joe Conley, who played Ike the General Store owner, passed away at 85 on Sunday, from complications of dementia. I still love catching that show on Hallmark. I even had a metal Waltons lunch box in first grade. We all used to say goodnight at our family's weekend cabin, always ending with a "Goodnight JohnBoy". I'd always giggle. They don't make shows like that anymore...

Posted - Jul 15 2013 : 3:30:46 PM I loved the Waltons and Walton Mountain is just outside Charlottesville, Va, where I grew up. There was a general store at the base of the mountain that was sort of a little spot for tourists to stop by and get a soda or snack and see some literature and post cards of the area. As you can imagine, it is all beautiful land in the Blue Ridge Mountains and people continue to visit for a bit of that Walton's nostalgia!

Posted - Jul 11 2013 : 8:32:45 PM Oh ,how I LOVED the Waltons, I can remember as a kid watching it all the time with my grandparents, and YES I think we all have done the "Goodnight JohnBoy" scene over and over again each night at various times in our lives. Such a wholesome show- oh how I wish all TV was still like that! Rest in Peace Ike! Hugs,

Posted - Jul 11 2013 : 12:45:53 PM Love the Waltons, even today. They show reruns, and it is still great TV....especially compared to what is on most of the time. Sad to see another one of the cast passed away.

Posted - Jul 10 2013 : 12:19:33 PM It has been a while since I watched the Waltons. I can remember back(to many to name) years ago when I was in Girl Scouts and we had a variety show and we did the Waltons and I had to play Ike. I can't remember it all right now but it had something to do with the Sister secret recipe. Oh that makes me smile just thinking about it.
