This is a cicada year for us. These little buzzing creatures are everywhere in the trees. I know I'm weird but I think they are so cool. In our area they are a beautiful periwinkle color with splashes of orange. When we ride through the trees they sometimes get stuck in the holes in our helmets and make our whole head buzz...lol.

I haven't seen/heard any here yet. I wonder if they will show up in this part of the country this year. I was reading in Organic Gardening this month about the "cicada killer". It is a wasp that feeds on them, but it is non-aggressive wasp to humans. Unfortunately people apparently still destroy them, and it upsets the cicada population balance.

Glad you are enjoy the noise Laura. When we had the cicada's here a few years ago I thought I'd go crazy! It was like a million chainsaws going off at the same time. The noise was so deafening that we couldn't talk to each other outside!

Laura, I actually love them too. I remember my sister and I always played with as many of them as we could catch growing up. Weird I know.

Can't say I share your love of these creatures. But, it is nice to hear of them being appreciated by someone!
