Life just keeps happening! I'm having neck surgery on June 12. Spinal fusion and decompression. Lots of stuff to do between now and then.

To Do....
1. Get off the caffeine! UGH!!!!!
2. Stop most meds
3. Get as physically fit as possible
4. GET MY HOUSE IN ORDER!

Did I mention that our son is graduating from high school? Yep, he graduates on 4 June and I'll have family and friends in between 1 June and 6 June. So, I have to get the house company ready and to make plans to keep it under control after surgery.

Where to begin?

I guess I'll have to think about it over a cuppa coffee

Hi Tracy,
I thought it was close to surgery day! I hope all is well with your sonogram and you can get this show on the road and get to healing. You must have survived the graduation madness, its an exciting time. I'm glad you got that finished up before surgery. Best Wishes! Keep us posted.

Thank you Joey!

I had to do my pre-op work on Monday and have my primary doctor clear me. Then we hit a snag. Seems I have "atreial enlargement" and so I had to go in for a sonogram this morning. That going well, I'm going under on Wednesday. I've already picked up my after surgery meds and now I just need to put a few dinners aside and pack my bag. I also want to get my bills in order so nothing is interrupted while I'm in the hospital.

Praying that all goes well, Tracy. You will probably feel so much better after the surgery. Sounds like you have some people to help so please be sure to get some rest and let your body heal. Hugs, Joey

Thanks for the advice ladies. I spent the day getting my pre-op stuff done. Hard to believe its only a few more days! I have lowered my standards about what I want done to the house. As long as its cleaned and well stocked, I'm happy. My recliner and bed will be my best friends. I will be able to run the house smoothly from there. My yard is no longer looking like a jungle, my dear friend from Cali is visiting til Thursday and my mom will be her Wednesday til Thursday and the remaining time will be just setting everything up. Books, dvd player, yarn, etc...I don't see me moving from the house much til I go for my three week check up. I get my clearance from my doctor on Wednesday and my finally appointment with my surgeon before the procedure. Everything seems to be happening pretty quickly!

Good wishes and prayers sent your way today Tracy. I am a nurse and used to work for a neurosurgeon so I understand all you have going on. Be sure you take some time to rest and remember just because your pain level is better it will take time. Do not try to be superwoman after the surgery. :) Try to diminish you caffeine by cutting it in half first, it helps with the headaches. I have been caff-free for many years but on occasion have something when we are out eat and boy do I feel it for a few days after.
Congrats on your son's graduation as well. May he be blessed in his path in life.

Tracy - I had my neck fused with a bone graft, a plate and screws last June. I had so much relief right when I woke up.
I had to wait to do it until after my surgery, chemo and radiation. I need my lower back done but I just can't do another
thing right now. I will keep you in my prayers.

Be Blessed,

Its amazing to think that our last child is at this moment spending his LAST day in high school. Happy and sad at the same time. No more football practice, ROTC...after school activities.

He's started cleaning the yard yesterday. He'll get his "fun day" today and then its about the work!

The batch cooking is a good idea but we don't eat much during the summer. Salads and grilled, steamed. I've got in-laws who will fill in and I'm thinking my mom will be visiting so I'll be covered.

It will get done and I'm very motivated today! Got my shopping list and list of things to do ready for tomorrow (payday=shopping).

Lots of stuff going on in my head and buzzing around. First on my list of things to do is to take my grand babies to the park and library. I won't be able to do it for a while so I really want to spend as much time with them as I can. I wont be able to pick them up in a few weeks...sad.

Tracy,
Sounds like a particularly rough time to get off the caffeine! But step back from the coffee pot!

Getting ready for graduation and guests is as good a way to get your house in order as I can think of. Another suggestion is that when you do cooking now make a bigger batch and freeze the extra for when you are recovering. Lots of the time a double batch doesn't take much more work.

Congratulations to your son. He is now officially old enough to help out. Getting the kids in to work is a great idea. Food is a big draw and those kids are a lot stronger and more mobile than some of us! Just get a list ready of what they can do and be the supervisor!

Take care!
Susan

Well, Tracy, if I lived closer I'd come do what I could to help you out!
But I can . . and will pray!
Hang in there! Hopefully the family and friends will pitch in as much as possible
Praying!

Thanks ladies. If I can keep that boy of mine home long enough to get some stuff done, I'll get a lot accomplished. Come to THINK of it, I've fed many of his friends over the past year....I think I'll be calling in some favors!! I'll feed them a good meal in repayment ;p
