Hi Girls,
Here I.am, We have been without power for eight days, I sure missed you all! I have a lot of catching up to do.
We had a foot and a half of snow, and it caused so much damage to the trees, they say there is not one tree that wasn't damaged. It will take months to clean up the mess. They declared this area a federal disaster. I have never seen anything like it. Took us four days with a lot of help to clean up just our yard. But power came back on today, and big clean up crews from all over the country are in here now starting the clean up.
One of the best things that happened during the week was my farmgirl RAOK mail. That really was a treat. I will give my thanks on the RAOK site.
Really missed you all!!
NANCY JO

Hi Nancy
My name is Bonnie and I am new...I am east of you and just caught the edge of that storm. I am glad you are doing well and getting cleaned up. Here's to a mild New York winter here on out!!

Hi, Nancy! Glad you're back and safe at home. My parents were in Buffalo when the snow began (visiting my grandma in the hospital) and they almost got stuck on the thruway driving back to Rochester. I hope this isn't a preview of what winter will be up here this year!

It's good to see you posting again, Nancy. This farmyard wasn't the same without you! :)

Nancy Jo, so good to see your posts. What you described is exactly like the hurricane we were hit with in 2003, crews from other areas coming to help out, folks without power for days, limbs and branches everywhere, flooding, roofs invaded by fallen trees.....the only thing different is the temperature!! Mother Nature can be quite a gal sometimes. E-hugs! Nance

THANKYOU AGAIN GIRLS,
They are starting the clean up now big time, companies from all over the country are coming in. We were one of the lucky ones, we have a big oak corner gas fireplace, so the living room was always warm, the rest of the house, well not so warm. I cooked on the outside grill alot and eat sandwich's and cereal, and whatever else didn't have to be heated. The laundry got out of control, a friend from out of the area came and brought us bottled water and milk and bread because the stores here if they had power were sold out. I had a battery radio and several flash lights, not that any of them worked to great, going to go this week and get some really big big flash lights, I also used my oil lamps. We went to bed with the radio at about six, because there wasn't anything else we could do, the house being a nice shade of black. Had a cooler on the front porch with some food in, but had to throw most away. Not complaining, we were fine, our homeowners Insurance will cover all the outside damage, except out beautiful maple trees will never be the same. But then something else will be pretty I'am sure.

Nancy, I checked on my cousin who is up your way but they just had mostly icy rain and slush. Poor you! Hope you managed to stay warm and dry in the midst. We had a friend that went to D'Youville in Buffallo and she used to say from October-March "just forget about visiting, it might be nice when you start the trip but by the end you may be plowed under in your car and they won't find your bones until Spring thaw!" I love winter, but what you got was way too much, much too fast! Hope that was the first (and last) storm like that for you this year! Take care!

with a happy heart

Well how nice is this, I was missed. What a great welcome back. Missed you all, and thankyou so much for your concern. Don't need a thing, thankyou Berries, and from another post, no aunt Jenny, to late for the candle thing, if you had only known before I would have said send them in. Worst storm damage I have ever seen in this area. Glad its over.

well glory be!!! thank goodness the storm didn't blow you away .. goodness .. i musta' been under a rock somewheres .. i didn't even know there WAS a storm in your area.

jus' reeeely happy you are o.k. ... i sent you an e-mail about that little dolly you wanted. we're heading for a play "MURDERER" a couple towns over .. i understand there is NO TALKING in the first 30 minutes of the play and those are the most exciting! will check e-mails later. WELCOME BACK HONEY DOOOO .. so very happy you are o.k.

OH .. and see what you started! we're going to have a 'buddy list' so we can connect with 'lost friends' .. i guess this 'power outage thing' probably affects the phone lines too .. which .. shows that perhaps we should give e-mail addresses of friends and family who know where we are but that don't live in the same area!

Oh, HURRAY! There you are! We were all worried about you, Nancy Jo...so happy you are okay. Very bad timing for such heavy snowfall, with all the leaves still on the trees. Glad you are back!
