GURLZ ... i wuz thinkin' mayhaps it might be a good idea if we had a central place .. or a coupla' friends here on the forum where we could maintain a list of our phone numbers where we can be reached if for some reason, we seem to have gotten 'lost' from the farm .. with permission to call if we haven't posted in awhile .. just to check to make sure we are o.k. there have been several friends who post and post and post .. then .. just seem to vanish in thin air. what do ya'll think of this idea?

I do have phone numbers under lock and key, if anyone would like to add theirs. And/or you're concerned about a farmgirl on hiatus...I'll give 'em a call to let them know we are thinking them.

Yes, Please do not post any personal information on the forum. Real names, contact addresses, phone numbers, even email addresses should all be exchanged privatly. Unfortunatly in our high tech world- it is very easy for search engine robots to "harvest" this personal informatione even from our forum! I know that no one at the farm would ever want anyone to have something bad come about because of chatting here.

Rosemary,
Reading through the first of this thread, Meg at the farm keeps them under lock and key and she is who we contact if we are concerned and had no answer after we have posted asking if anyone has heard from them. At least that is what I got out of it.

I've always heard it was a very bad idea to post info about real addresses etc. online. I'm assuming this phone list (a very sweet idea) would be maintained and accessed very privately, yes?

I know there are a few Aussies in the farmyard. So maybe we can be sistered by a farmgirl in the same country.

Friends are the best collectables.

I love it!

I would even be willing to maintain the list if yall like!

Thanks for reviving this Kathie! I had forgotten about this topic. It will be good to have this be up again since we are slowly headed towards winter which means lots of snow and ice storms and power outages for some parts of the country. It will be good to keep this in mind!

fran darlin' .. i do sleep occasionally! and thanks for missing me .. but figgerin' i was 'out and about'!

now gurlfrenz .. i'm leaving for TOLEDO, OHIO on Saturday, October 28th .. i can still be reached via e-mail and through the forum too .. i can only pick up NEW e-mails from my server though! i'll be checking in from time to time .. when i'm not holding one of my grandchildren! (will be there to 'baby-sit' while daughter, wednesday goes back to work. she wants sooooooooooo much not to work for at least a year .. wants desperately to be home with her babies! but alas, and alack, she brings in half their monthly income! she does not want to leave her baby with anyone except family .. soooo .. being the momma who doesn't 'work' .. i told her i'd love to come help her for a few weeks. honey hunk will come up for thanksgiving .. i'll drive back home the weekend of november 25/26 .. hitting every antiques shoppe in my path!

will be home for all of december .. and we leave again for the entire month of january and first week of february .. heading for africa and amsterdam on a safari .. and to see the home where anne frank and her family hid during the holocaust.

then .. come FEBRUARY ... i hope to hang out here for awhile before venturing too far from home!

i'll give meggie my e-mail address, home phone number, cell phone number, hank's cell phone number, daughter's e-mail address and phone number too! WOWZER .. someone should be able to track me down!

I think this is a fabulous idea, as I have been trying to track down Aunt George for a while and am worried aout her. She was partners with me in a cookbook swap and after the initial email, I never heard back from her. She hasn't posted here or on her blog since August and hasn't replied to an email I sent her. Does anyone here know Aunt George or has heard anything from her? I know she was real busy at work, but it has been such a long time, it is very worrying.
Re the phone numbers, my contact would be better as my email as I love SO FAR away from you all!
Best wishes,
Jayne

you my sweet girlfriend have also been missing in action a few times as well, but i always imagine you are on the road with a new adventure. anyway, keep those great ideas coming, we have to look out for one another.

Hi Farmgirls!

Happy beautiful fall Tuesday! So, here’s what we’ve come up with for a Farmgirl CareNet. With privacy issues in mind, we think we can get involved AND keep it streamlined. If you want to be on the Farmgirl CareNet, send me (via e-mail) your screen name, first name only, e-mail, and phone number (cell phone also if you want). I’ll keep all of them under lock and key here. If someone goes missing or you’re worried about someone, contact me or post something on the forum and I’ll give them a call and report back. If I get too many names, I’ll e-mail everyone the name of an assistant or assistants who have volunteered to help (take a few names) and get permission from everyone before any of the names leave my safe keeping. What do you think? Will this work for everyone? I think it’s such a wonderful idea! It’s nice to know someone is worrying about you, if need be.
