A big hey girls! I need some help and hope ya'll can guide me in the right direction. I am relocating and we are trying to decide between West Viginia or Tennessee - This is what we are looking for - at least 10 acres (want some woods)at least 3 bedrooms, two baths and outbuildings - need room for all my 9 dogs and need a large workshop/garage and some other small buildings - This is all happening very quick so if you know of someplace, tell me quick - also if you are from either of these states, sell me on what makes your state a good place to live - I am gettin out of Jersey YIPEE!

Kathy -- good luck with your move no matter where you decide to live. I've never been to TN but I've done research on it. I'd choose TN. WV seems like a depressing, poor place to live -- hope I didn't offend any Farmgirls by saying that!

I totally agree with Michele -- make this new man a part of your life but NOT your life. A person can not make you happy. You have to be happy with yourself first and then that person will enhance your happiness. I learned this the hard way from my 2nd marriage.

Kathy, so good to hear from you and wishing you great things with the next "chapter" of your life. You are the writer, aren't you? The best books have many chapters in them, and some never end, even at the last page, right?

I will echo all of the other great comments posted here, and as for relocating, I love living here in Virginia and I have spent time visiting in Tennessee and would say it is probably cheaper to buy property there. West Virginia is becoming more popular with commuters from MD and DC, and land prices are starting to go up there as well.

It sounds like you are taking your Enchanted Woods with you; keep your head up high and don't settle for less than you deserve!

Keep us all posted, okay?

Kathy,

So sorry to hear of your problems, but you're doing something about it and heading in the right direction. I vote for Tennesse, but if I could I'd like to be Frannie's neighbor in Kentucy!!

Kate, the east is very expensive to live, at least where I am. I do think it is cheaper in the southeast but thats getting higher also. Jersey is one of the most expensive places to live and not the prettiest anymore.

Kathy, what little bit of contact we have had from one Jersey girl to another, this is NOT your last chance at a good life! You are STRONGER then that, SMARTER then that and DEEPER then that. You may feel like a rag doll, feel like you've been kicked around and unhappy but....... make this new man a PART of your life NOT your lifeline. Let him add to what you already are, a strong, independant, smart, wise woman. Congrats for getting out but get out for the right reasons. Good luck & keep your head up. Michele

I will pray that you can draw strength from within, and create a life of your own that nourishes you. Take care. Pray for wisdom, and do not let your heart believe that this is your last chance at a good life. You are your own person.

Peace

My God it is killing me to think of leaving the deer - my marriage is not good anymore - I am unhappy here - that is why no one has seen much of me - I am going to cry just thinking about it. But I met a wonderful man who would do anything for me and this may be my last chance at a good life...... I feel like a little rag doll (one of Frannies Chillins, torn in two) I really could use some support from my farm gal friends- maybe I should just head on over to MaryJanes and she will take me in - I can earn my keep.
Love

Just have to put in a plug for our area, Kathy... western North Carolina is beautiful. I'm in the foothills of western NC (Rutherford County, about 45 miles east of Asheville). Land here is pretty reasonable (at least it looks it to people coming from where land is much higher). Check out this site: http://usamls.net/rutherford This is everything that's listed around here.

Good luck finding something, somewhere!

It is in Bedford County. I will look at yesterday's paper to see who it is listed with. I am off to dance class now and will be home mid-afternoon if I cannot quickly locate the paper!!

OK, found it:

From the Tullahoma News, classified section:

5.3 lovely acres S. Bedford County with 1780 sq.ft. open plan modular home. More but it looks to be owner for sale: 931-695-3080

Also: in N. Moore County 12.72 acres. Owner again 931-695-3080

Tennessee Land Sale: 5 or more acres. By owner financing

Hope this helps!!

well, chile .. just last week .. our nearest neighbor's house and 40 acres sold to a family from west virginia .. i think it was about $150,000 for ALL ... i understand they have horses and a 15 year old boy. we're looking forward to having them as neighbors. i hear they are originally from MARYLAND! he found it on the internet .. but i'm not sure how?

there is a teeensy little house at the bottom of our road (with ten wooded acres) .. house needs lots of work .. but i think it is all less than $40,000.
