well gurlfrenz, i am home sweet kentucky home. got back late friday night .. but we turned around and went to a most wonderful civil war battle re-enactment and weekend of events in perryville, kentucky. WOW! was that ever an AWESOME time!

i posted the following (with photos) to my Kentucky Ramblers gurlfrenz via e-mail .. if you wish to see the photos .. just e-mail me with your full name and e-mail address, and i'll be glad to add you to my True Friends Kentucky Ramblers (and Treasure Seekers list too if you wish!)

well, here is the 'story of' our new grand and great grand children!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

INTRODUCING: SOFIA CATHERINE SZOLLOSI ... ONE DAY OLD!!!

BORN: SEPTEMBER 15, 2006 6:21 P.M. 19 & 1/2 INCHES 'TALL'

(photo)

WELL .. GURLFRENZ .. HERE IS THE LONG AWAITED 'ANGEL-BABY' .. GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!! LUCAS NOW HAS A LITTLE SISTER ... SHE IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO ADORABLE AND BEAUTIFUL AND SWEET AND PRECIOUS .. AND ALL THE GOOD WORDS!

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE NOT YET HEARD ... HANK AND I SPED TO TOLEDO WHEN WE GOT 'THE PHONE CALL' ON FRIDAY MORNING (THREE WEEKS AGO) THAT WEDNESDAY WAS ON HER WAY TO THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE 'LABOR' HAD BEGUN! WE LITERALLY GOT THERE FIVE MINUTES BEFORE SOFIA WAS BORN! HANK DROPPED ME OFF AT THE 'DOOR' OF THE HOSPITAL WHILE HE WENT TO PARK THE CAR ... I 'FLEW' TO THE 'BABY FLOOR' .. AND WEDNESDAY WAS ALREADY HUFFING AND PUFFING AS THE DOCTOR WALKED THROUGH THE DOOR. I HUGGED HER AND KISSED HER .. THE DOC PUT HER LEGS IN THE 'STIRRUPS' AS HANK WALKED THROUGH THE DOOR. WE ASKED IF HE COULD 'HOLD OFF' WHILE HANK CAME IN FOR A HUG AND A KISS. HE SMILED AND SAID .. HE COULD WAIT IF THE BABY WOULD WAIT. QUICK HUGS AND KISSES .. AND WE WERE ALL SHUFFLED INTO THE HALLWAY AND ONLY FRANK WAS ALLOWED TO STAY IN THE ROOM WITH WEDNESDAY!

We paced up and down for about 15 minutes when Frank came from the room BEAMING! The two grammies secretly prayed (together) for a sister for lucas .. but we were FIRMLY convinced Lucas would be having a little brother. Lucas has gone back and forth wanting a sister then a brother then a sister then ... well .. you get the picture! The ENTIRE time we waited .. he wanted only a little SISTER! Hank SWORE the baby would be a GIRL. Emma and I were not convinced! After all .. she was carrying all IN FRONT, LOW and shaped like a BASKETBALL. I would say that 98 percent of the people who saw her (friends, family AND strangers) told her she would be having a boy! (oh yessss! a few of you gurlz did indeed say it would be a girl!) So much for 'olde wives tales!'

Frank came to get us but wouldn't tell us whether we had a new grandson or a new granddaughter ... and went back into the room for the 'sewing up' of wednesday's 'girl parts' cuz' she was ripped in both directions! We were IN the door .. but behind a curtain! i strained and peeked to see if the baby had on a BLUE or a PINK hat .. only to discover that ALL the babies in the hospital wear a soft pink/blue striped hat! We strained to 'hear' any hints .. twice . .i SWEAR .. i thought i heard wednesday say something to the doctor about 'her'. BE STILL MY HEART! DARE I HOPE? (OH! and be ASSURED .. had this been another little PRINCE .. we would be ecstatic!!!) I had two girls and Wednesday is SUCH a feminine 'girly-girl' that i wanted so very much for her to also experience a little girl in her life.

THEN .. we heard Frank say loud and clear .. the word: BROTHER. SO THAT WAS IT WE FIGURED! I think it is the very first moment since Wednesday told us she was going to have another child that Hank wavered .. and believed it was a boy!

Finally, which seemed like an eternity .. Frank came 'to the curtain' and ushered us into the room to get the first glimpse of the baby and to be 'formally introduced'.

Wednesday, holding her little bundle of joy in her arms, beamed at us and said: "i'd like you to meet SOFIA CATHERINE" .... gurlfrenz . .i coulda' just laid down and died at that very moment and my life would have been complete! Gramma-Emma and i jumped up and down like little schoolgurlz hugging with grins spread from one ear to the other! A PRINCE .. and now a PRINCESS!

Gosh, i will forever get teary-eyed at the remembrance of that moment when Wednesday said those two magic words: "Sofia Catherine" ... she is named for her paternal and maternal GREAT-GREAT GRANDMOTHERS.

Frank's mother's mother's mother was named Sofia ... Wednesday's mother's (that would be ME!) father's mother was named Sarah CATHERINE .. and CATHERINE is a family name passed from generation to generation. (Catherine is MY middle name and is now the middle name of BOTH of my GRAND-DAUGHTERS!)

GETTING TO KNOW YOU! (photo)

The next three weeks were a whirlwind of happiness! I stayed in Toledo to help with the children .. the longest time i have had the opportunity to spend with Wednesday's children EVER! I got up for several feedings each night .. it was incredibly wonderful .. i'd hear a WAAAAH! and rush out of bed .. to find Frank rocking Sofia in his arms as he walked her about .. as wednesday was "pumping" .. sofia JUST in the last couple days got the 'hang' of LATCHING ON! which should make life much simpler! I would either run to heat up a bottle .. or take Sofia from Frankie as he did the running and heating! THEN .. we would take turns as to who got to stay up with her to feed her and hold her and sing to her! I also took turns with frankie taking lucas to school and picking him up afterwards. OH THE FUN LUCAS AND I HAD! I have always felt that it took awhile for Lucas to 'warm up' to me early in his life (we were living in Maryland at the time) and i got to see him so seldom. But since living in Kentucky, i've been able to visit much more often .. and we are so tied to each other's hearts! I love reading to him and watching videos (oh lord! between power rangers and bob the builder .. i have been 'boy-ized'!!!) i love watching saturday morning cartoons with him .. and trips to Chuck E. Cheese's .. and doing 'projects' together .. i adored planting spring bulbs with him early one morning when he only had his 'gutches' (underoos) on PLUMBER'S CRACK! (ohhhhhhh .. when he is 16 years old and brings home his FIRST DATE ... shall i regale her with these photos?)

We shopped .. and ALWAYS .. there was a TOY (or TWELVE) involved on those shopping trips! (HA! no wonder he loves his GA!)

When Lucas was newborn .. i was holding him and he looked at me and uttered the sound GA .. and i SWORE he said my name .. soooooo .. i've been GA ever since and hank has been GA-DA). Well, Sofia Catherine was not three days old when i swear on my Great Grandmother Sarah Catherine .. she, too, looked up at me and plainly said ... (o.k. .. may not 'plainly') but i did indeed hear a little "GA" come from her sweet little mouth! Wednesday just glanced over at me and smiled!

Sofia already has a 'mind of her own' .. seems to be an 'independent little spirit' .. a little 'impatient' when it comes to 'feeding time' ... coquettish .. flirty .. attentive .. and within days was lifting her head and looking around! (O.K. .. O.K. .. a very proud grammie raving here!)

Hank and I would talk daily on the phone and I could tell he was terribly lonely. We thought i'd be coming home after a week .. then wednesday asked if i could stay another week .. so a two-week stay was planned .. as hank and i were making plans for me to come home at the end of the second week .. i heard a little throat clearing from across the room .. looked up .. and she was holding up THREE fingers with a little 'puppy dog' whimper .. so THREE weeks was decided upon!

Hank came up last Monday .. and we decided we would head back on Friday .. when Sofia would be THREE WEEKS old. About Wednesday or Thursday, we heard rumblings of 'maybe one more week'. I decided things were going great .. and they needed to be a family of FOUR and see how things go .. with a promise that if they needed me .. all they had to do was CALL .. and i'd be there in SIX HOURS. Lucas wrote down our phone number .. and i swear .. he has called at least SIX times pleading: "GA, we need you .. can you come back right now?" I think they are doing great though from the photos i just got of them visiting the 'pumpkin farm':

Wednesday, Frank
Sofia & Lucas

Hank and I got home late Friday night .. got up early Saturday morning and went to the Perryville Civil War Re-enactment weekend. Spent the weekend and oh my .. it was INCREDIBLE. There were about 8,000 re-enactors involved .. will regale you with photos and tales of our weekend soon.

AND ... I wanted to let ya'll know our DOUBLE wonderful news ...

DOUBLE .. because .. 6 days after Sofia Catherine was born .. we also became GREAT GRANDPARENTS to a bouncing baby BOY ... Andrew Jordan Lambert! Our precious granddaughter, Jennifer is the proud new momma. We don't yet have photos .. but be assured, soon's they arrive .. i will send them along!

Life is GRAND .. and GREAT-GRAND!

Many many congrats to you and your family sweet frannie. I loved the pictures you sent though Lucas may think differently when he is older! And I can't tell ou how much it means to have grand parents involved the way you both are. My children benefit from wonderful grandparents. It is a priceless gift to have them in their lives.
