I was wondering if any of you ladies have a chenille bedspread. I am giving my bedroom a makeover and I was thinking of getting one as I like the look and texture of them. I remember my grandparents having them, but at that time, I thought they were odd and kind of uncomfortable feeling. It could just be that I was a kid and it was something that I wasn't used to. Just wanted some of your opinions on this before I proceed.

Also, do you know of any place good to purchase one? I am looking for an ivory, off white, cream type color. I've been looking online and found a place I was considering purchasing one from, but wanted some more options.

Thanks!

Emily

Roxanna and Delicia, I wish I could have your luck! I did look at a few of our local thrift stores but didn't see any. What a good find for you! :)

Kathy and Marly, Don't you just love things that remind you of your childhood? Especially when it's a nice soft blanket that you snuggled with.

Tammy!! I've missed you! I saw that you were having problems with your e-mail. Did you get it all taken care of yet? Wasn't sure if you e-mailed me or not?? It's ok if you didn't....just want to make sure I didn't miss anything! Shea's nursery sounds so perfect for a little girl! Heck, it sounds perfect for me (minus the crib!) Unfortunately, I'm looking for something cream colored so I won't be getting one of those beautiful peacock blankets......thinking you should talk your husband into it so at least one of us gets one. Lol! Hope everything is well in your neck of the woods.

Brian, Thanks for suggestion and the link! I love the Lamont Home Lilian Bedding Collection! It's beautiful! Your daughter sounds like a cutie! :)

Kristina, it sounds like you know how to glamp in style! Do you have pics of your glamping set up?

Thanks again for all of the advice!

I have one. I take it camping/glamping. I found it at an antique store on sale.

Hi Emily,

We actually make a Chenille bedspread. You can find it at http://www.belk.com/AST/Boutiques/Boutiques_Primary/Mary_Janes_Home/For_the_Home/Shop/Bed/Bedspreads_Coverlets.jsp and Sears Canada http://www.sears.ca/stores/shop/search?langId=1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10001&N=0&Ntk=level1&Ntt=MaryJane%27s

Best of luck finding what works for you. My daughter has the Chenille bedspread on her bed and she calls it "softy blankie". Pretty cute stuff.

Oh my Emily, that peacock bedspread is gorgeous! I love the whole design....especially with the pink heart at the top. I want to buy it even though I don't have the bed for it, just because it's gorgeous. I decorated Shea's nursery all in chenille crib bedding, the crib bumpers were pink chenille, the crib quilt was a chenille sunbonnet quilt. Her dresser was distressed blue...it was sooo cute. I kept it all hoping I will have a granddaughter who will use it someday. None of it was vintage, but it looked like it. You might want to go for a new "vintage looking" bedspread if you're going to be using it on your bed. It might hold up better for laundering, etc. I hope you buy the peacock so I can see the pictures...I'll be jealous...LOL.
I don't think my husband would let me put it our our bed...hahaha!

Hugs!

I found one and am using is as a chair cover in my sewing room. I found it at a peddlers mart. I hope that you can find one.

I don't have one, but I did when I was young. Loved it.

I have one on the bed in the guest room and love it. It is really very soft and reminds me of the one I had when I was little.

Thanks for the input Teri, Teresa, and Nancy! Teresa, I know what you mean about it not looking as nice, but I bet it still looks beautiful! It would be a shame to retire it to the linen closet so I'm glad you still use it! :)

Nancy, I'm actually looking at one from the Vermont Store! It's good to hear that you would recommend them! I can't believe how beautiful some of the designs are, like the peacock you mentioned!

I will post some pictures when the room is done. I'm finishing up the painting today. Had to do it in sections because the room is on the smaller side and I have to shift the furniture around as I paint because there is no where else to go with it!

Thanks again for the input!

I love the chinille bedspreads. I used to have one on my bed and I purchased it from the Vermont Store. I know they have an online site. They have several to choose from. One I saw recently was a beautiful peacock on a white background.

Good luck and it would be nice to see which one you get. Maybe you could post a picture of it here.

I purchased a white chenille bedspread years ago on Ebay. At the time I had a queen sized bed and it looked so pretty in my bedroom... until we upgraded to a king sized bed! I still put in on the bed during the summer months, it doesn't look as nice.. but I can't imagine putting it in the linen closet and never using it again!
I guess I should hunt for a new one as well!!
Good Luck with your search Emily-let us know what you find!

Good luck, they are beautiful.
I have is a vintage cream color twin size. I'd shop it around, I got mine on Ebay several years ago.
