I have a dear friend who is in school to become a Midwife. She called this morning to talk about a project she has been assigned. It is to create a piece of art which reflects the spirit of mothers who have lost a child, dealt with fetal demise, stillbirth, infertility, abortion, etc.

She has decided she wants to put together a quilt.

What I am asking, on her behalf, is for people to send her a 5x5 square of fabric that represents them. She will adapt these pieces into the quilt in special way. Her mailing address is

Lisa Stotts
P O Box 122
Buckley Wa 98321

If you want to include your story, she plans to keep those, but it is not required. If you'd like, include your email so when she is done she can send a picture of the quilt.

She has suffered losses of her own and this is meant to be a healing opportunity for her as well as creating a piece that has a deeper meaning. She plans to use it in her office/practice at some point as well.

Thanks!!!

She has 12 weeks to get it finished... so I'd think she would like to have the bulk of the pieces of fabric in the next couple of weeks.

She wanted be to be sure that people know this is a project that won't be sold.

This does sound like a good project. I myself have lived with infertility and it just leaves you with emptiness and a feeling that something is not right...ever. I may have to think about how to put that into a 5 x 5 square. Is there a deadline?
