As many of you know Michigan's Apple industry suffered terribly this year with a very warm May and then heavy frosts that decimated our apple orchards. At my house it was no exception...The trees were full of blossoms initially and then with the frost and then the drought I watched the fruit as it never matured and then dropped to the ground...that is except for one of my fruit trees. This particular tree bore ONE apple-It grew and grew until yesterday when it was ready to be picked.
Here is a photo of the harvest-
I really admire that apple for hanging in there through the frost and the drought-I just had to take it's photo and share it with you-

...What a great idea of turning my "Little Apple That Could" into an apple faced doll.

Posted - Sep 21 2012 : 6:30:31 PM Love that idea, Melina. I was going to say that it should be preserved somehow. Too beautiful to eat--considering it is the only one! Better times next year, I hope.

Posted - Sep 20 2012 : 5:40:54 PM I'm sorry Melody! We've had years like that and there is a huge, multi-fruit orchard here to take care of. This year, however, is a GOOD year for fruit . . even got apricots and peaches this year. Hopefully next year will be better for you! CJ
