This past May I set up a fairly large tent in my backyard and glamped it all up purty. The weather here has been fabulous the past week- the start of Fall- Oh I am in LOVE! Yesterday I spent the day doing some "tent-cleaning" out in my tent, and readying it for cool Fall nights. I vacuumed out the whole tent and re-arranged. Then stripped the queen bed down and added several antique quilts and some extra afghans. I just cant wait to spend a Fall evening out there! For the past 2 nights I have gone out for a few hours and sat reading my new Mary Janes' Glamping book and have been just awe struck with the wonder of nature. The crickets are chirping and I am in heaven!
Here's a shot of one of my cozy chairs in my tent...

I just wanted to share that I have definately been bitten by the Glamping Bug! Inspired by Mary Jane and our very own CJ- I have to say, my tent looks like a luxury B&B, and the best part is I can visit anytime I want for any length of time!

I can totally relate to the peace in that tent. I'm glad you got the chance to experience it.

Laurie - how wonderful! I have to get the book! Glamping isn't on our agenda in the near future, but I have been really wanting to glamp up our back deck and front porch for fun... You all inspire me! Thank you for sharing!!! Hugs - Nini

Thanks girlfriends!
I definately encourage anyone who already has a tent, or if you can swing a few bucks and buy a tent to go ahead and treat yourself and DO THIS!!!! I can not tell you how much simple joy I get out of just sitting out there with a cup of warm tea, reading and relaxing. The great thing about it is that it is so easy to set up and so affordable. Just about everything in my tent was purchased at a thrift, or were things I already had on hand.
GO FOR IT! You will not be sorry!
Hugs,

~Laurie

Thanks, Laurie, for letting me share my "glamping bug"!!! I'm pretty sure I won't be able to GO anywhere Glamping again until next year and I know my daughter, glamping partner and best friend . . Robin . . won't be able to go with me. Sooooo, I'm thinking about setting up my tent in the yard next week or so and do some of my own backyard glamping. Invite some friends over for whatever . . . s'mores over the fire . . .brunch in the morning.
My sister from British Columbia is here this week visiting and I'm sewing like a mad woman for Farmers Market so it won't happen this week.

AND, I have plans for using some different accessories than we've used on our adventures, for my backyard retreat . . .
Have fun, girlfriend! Wish we weren't separated by thousands of miles, because then we could just SHARE the "bug" with each other until we have it "chronic"! :D

Laurie-- how absolutely creative you are! Your tent idea for the back yard is a great affordable solution to glamping on a budget too. No doubt you will have some lovely fall evenings coming up to be outside and enjoy the change of seasons and maybe even have a little campfire . And us an update and more photos!!
