Miss CeeJay,

I received your package today and am very grateful. I will begin using it this evening. As you know, this has been a rough few months and maybe this is just what I need. I am so tired of being sad and mad and PO'd. I told a lady I used to go to church with that God and I were not talking because I'm really PO'd right now and everybody seemed okay with it. I want to get the joye and light back in my life and remember my son happily and not always in tears. I will let you know how it goes. My hubby got me a nice one that will go with my new date book so I will wait to use that starting the first of the year.

Thank you so much. I will use it proudly.

Laura . . your books with notes and list as such . . . I certainly would consider that journaling!

For me, sometimes the beauty of journaling is that I DON'T have to be organized about it. I'm a master organizer of everything else however and I like for my journals to be just whatever is rumbling around in my head or heart at the time.

Margo . . .I know what you mean about "private". Some of my journal entries are kinda that way.

i have many journals- none are elaborate-most are simply notebooks or composition books that i use-( i love the simple mead composition books and then glue things on/in them!) i write when i need to work something out in my head and heart. i clip motivational pics and sayings or pics of things i love, i save emails or photos- sometimes i go back and read thru--
i really need to organize them as my kids or whoever would simply throw them out!
i do date each entry and try to put what prompted something -like a phone call or event ...i have a "diary" that i get each year with wonderful artwork and i try to keep it up with weather and important stuff but i didn't even buy this years...not sure if i'll get the next one either! when i was actively gardening i would enter dates of things or observations-birds, plants, etc...

much of what i do journal is very private and i am not really sure that i want anyone to ever read thru them!

i tend to keep old calendars .....

I write lists and plans but I think all of my private thoughts and creativity goes into my horses and my other work. I am an artist and I would like to get some time to do some artwork, but writing is just a little too time consuming and frustrating to me for some reason. Having an old injury in my wrist doesn't help much either. I always think it would be fun to write letters to pen pals but I probably wouldn't have the time to keep up with it. It was all I could do just to write letters to my son when he was in boot camp. My daughter journals a LOT. Even carries around a bag of notebooks with her. Maybe I will keep a gardening journal someday. I started one a couple of years ago, but probably couldn't even find it now. Journals just don't seem organized to me. I guess if it's something I'm going to keep it needs to be organized and in order. But I do have old notebooks with notes and plans and lists in them. Is that considered journaling?

Yes, I keep a journal as well. It's neat sometimes to go back and look at where you come from.

Kay, yep, a journal can be anything you want it to be. Whatever you put in, years from now it will bring a memory to life and allow you to see backwards into the things that were on your mind. Funny how a word or phrase in my journal makes recall so much easier!

Kay,
Journaling is something like keeping a diary. It's just a written journey of YOU, feelings, thoughts, ideas, plans, hopes, frustrations, hurts, joys . . . anything.
I'll bet that you would find it helpful to just write it down . . . express it. Sure works for me!! And, I HAVE "exploded" all over my journals from time to time . . . and cried . . . and laughed. You name it, it's in my journals
Hope that helps!

I don't understand journaling. Could someone please explain it to me? I remember having a diary as a teenager. Is it the same thing? I've had so much going on that I feel like I could explode and maybe this is something that could help. Thanks.

Well , I keep a book with my poems, and devoteinals in them ; and my thoughts and sayings
I also keep important things that happened to me or my family and put the date.
years ago I brought 4 leather bound journal keepers at Sam's ; they have a leather marker ;and lines ;
which I really need;
I find that writing down what I am thinking first on regular paper ; to see if I really want to put it in the journal first.

I keep a gardening journal and started keeping it in 2004 when it was given to me. I put in when I planted what, what the weather was like, and how each little crop did, and when I tore it out. I use it a lot each year when I wonder when I should be planting the snap peas, etc. It is interesting to look back and see how different each crop was, and when we had storms, etc.

I know your aunt kept a journal and you have shared some of her entries with us. Now you will have one of your own to pass on! It is really cute.

I don't write in my journal everyday, except for the "gratitude" section. That is just a simple sentence about something I'm grateful on that day. But when I do I usually write pages and pages of all kinds of things. . . kind of like you, Sherrie. I also have drawn sketches on some of the pages . . just for fun
It is therapeutic!

Like CeeJay,I've journalled for years-not the type you write in every day,but when I either need to vent my worries,write my goals,anything interesting that is going on,and so forth. I usually buy the journals they have at Barnes & Noble,and I always have an extra for when I complete a volume. Last one I got a year ago at Big Lots. It's theraputic and I do wonder who will end up reading it 60 years from now.

Yes, I do keep a journal and have for years. They are handwritten volumes that, once filled, I put into a pretty box. They are different colors, themes and, if embellished, all different. Some were given to me, some I purchased and I also make journals.
I have found them to be useful in my "journey" through life . . . writing about my hurts, heartaches, frustrations, my dreams and joys.
They are also chronicles of my family, life in general and my prayer life.
And, speaking of which . . I need to visit my journal today!

Good morning, Nancy! I do keep a journal, only it isn't a traditional one. I use my website as my journal, and keep copies of my posts on flashdrives. From there, I print them out and put them in a binder, where I add additional notes for my own use (weather reports, changes in routine or feeds for the animals, dosages of meds if needed, birthing dates, and any other pertinent info for the farm). I love having it to look back on, and use it to compare notes from the previous year. Yours is absolutely precious! BTW - I love your blog, and frequently go in to 'visit'. One of these days, I'm going to be able to afford to leave the farm, and when I do, I'm going to invite myself to your house and spend a weekend junking with you - I just love all your great finds! As a side note, my website is down right now for spam issues - I should be up and running again within the next week or so. When I do, I'll post on this site and invite you to come visit and see the vintage cookbooks a friend here gave me recently. They are great!

from the hearts of paradise...
