Last year, a farmgirl asked for donations for the homeless in her area. Stuff like scarves, hats, mittens and gloves. Are any of you farmgirls doing that again this winter?

Check also with your church as they get requests for items like these also.

Maybe contact your local food shelters and ask. They may be able to lead you to a homeless shelter.
Good luck.

Just an update. It's been actually hard to find any group in our area that collects for the homeless. It should not be that hard, but some rescue programs have no choice but to keep their addresses a secret. I know there is a house for battered women, but cannot locate a spokesperson. I know there is one young girls rescued from sex trafficking as well - again no contacts. Sheesh.

I finally found a Salvation Army office. I e-mailed if they could use crocheted scarves. I received a response back that they could use knitted hats and gloves/mittens for woman. The only problem is that I have not knitted hats yet, nor gloves/mittens.

I honestly didn't think it would be this difficult to donate to the homeless. No wonder the homeless remain homeless.

....I'll continue searching. There has to be some organization that helps.

Try your schools also. There are a lot of kids who show up to school with no hat or gloves. We use to have them in the nurses office & she would hand them out as needed!

I have been knitting hats and booties for babies but I can't find a place to donate them around here and I would rather donate locally if I can. I've even gotten in touch with a few of the hospitals with the promise that they will get back to me and I never heard anything. If I could find some place to give them to I would make more but so far no luck.

I don't collect for the homeless, but I do crochet hats and bring them to the local shelters for the homeless.
