Hi everyone -

'Just came across this information and realized that maybe our phone numbers Do Not Call Registration was expired or something. 'Tis the political season and our phone is simply ringing off the wall! UGH!!! So, I decided to visit the website and check things out.

First, it's very easy to register... Just follow the steps and you'll be good to go! (Yes! You CAN register your cell phone, too!)

Once you register, your phone number will be listed on the registry by the next day, and telemarketers will have up to 31 days to obtain your phone number and remove it from their call lists.

I was also very surprised to learn that telephone numbers on the registry are only removed from the list if they are disconnected and reassigned, or if you choose to remove a number from the registry. (Wonder why in the world, then, all these people are calling us?! Well... we're going to nip this in the bud right quick!)

Here are the links you'll need to help you get this taken care of, too:

I have registered with this list before, though I have often had to report numbers anyway. There will always be *those* callers...

The confirmation page is a good place to check whether you are already registered, and the date on which you did, so you know whether/when your registration has expired.

I have registered several times too. However, I have found a way to block numbers for a short time, if they keep calling.

I've registered before, too. Thanks, Nini, I registered again.

Isn't that awful, Tina!!! Such a "disturbance of <our> peace!"

My brother just emailed to let me know that political callers are exempt from the list:

"Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request. You should keep a record of the date you make the request." http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm

Like we don't get barraged enough by politicians through the media and at our front door! <sigh> That is just wrong!!! He had choice words concerning the matter, but I'll use my farmgirl wisdom here and refrain from further comment... ;)

Oh well... 'Still worth a shot, I think!!!

I have tried re-registering several times a year, and it makes no diferance, I still get at least one a day, and 10 plus a week, I gave up...
