Posted - Sep 21 2006 : 7:03:40 PM I started a new job this week! I have not worked outside the home for 4 years. As much I hated to think about having to do the 40 hour a week thing we really needed the money. So I'm a working girl again in a construction office doing bookkeeping. I like the job, the girls are nice, but the commute is the pits. 33 miles one way in city traffic -- an hour each way. But I'm so grateful to have this job and it's where I need to be for now. It will help me save money so I can buy my dream farm!
I can only check the forum when I come home at night. I never realized how many times a day I popped on here! I'd visit and there would be a few postings. Now that I'm only on once a day there's LOTS to read through. We Farmgirls are a gabby bunch!
Sure do miss you all during the day!
Hugs, Kay

Posted - Sep 22 2006 : 6:14:54 PM Gals -- thanks for the kind wishes. I decided that I'm going to save to get an Ipod. I have several podcasts that I subscribe to and those would be great to listen to. You can also download books too -- good idea Jenny!!! I made it through a week and will get my first paycheck next Friday. That will be the fun part!

Posted - Sep 22 2006 : 10:52:56 AM It's wonderful to find a job with people you like. I can truly relate to your commute - although blissfully mine is 45 minutes of mostly country driving! And books on tape make the trip go fast! The only *plus* I can think of is how happy I am to pull up the driveway each night to my little homestead!

Posted - Sep 21 2006 : 9:18:06 PM Hey Kay, glad to hear you like your new job. I thought about getting a "real" job last year to help us get over a rough spot. I'm normally REALLY confident but the idea of job hunting just scared the poo outta me. Isn't that silly? I applaud you going back after 4 years. We do what we need to, to help our families, don't we? :) Blessings, Rhonda
