Okay Farmgirls...I am so excited. I finally got an antique clawfoot bathtub to replicate MaryJane's outdoor bathing idea! It is a real beauty- in fact the porcelain is near perfect! I will be sure to post pictures as I re-finish the outside and set it in place for the outdoor bath area...cant wait to play around with this!

I just found a really cool "bath caddy" online from Bed Bath and Beyond- They have one made of teak (which would be good for my outdoor bath) and it is the coolest thing...holds your book, a taper candle and a wine glass- what more could an outdoor bathin' farmgirl ask for....LOL
Funny thing is that its $40 and I only paid $50 for the whole tub, so have to think about that one.

The setup at MJs B&B worked really well . . . fill the tub with water from the hose, light the two burners, let it get nice and warm (you need to shut that off before you get in . . don't wanna toast your buns!)
Having it outside is wonderful because you can enjoy the fresh air, the trees, the sky, the stars . . ahhhhhhh!
I could do it if I just had the tub . . we'll see!

Sounds like a real fun thing to have Laurie! I should do this too as we only have a shower in our house.

Thanks CJ for the pics of the "Real McCoy" at MaryJanes. Yes I am going to copy her and what is in her Outpost book and use a 2 burner camp stove set on pavers underneath the tub. I will fill it with the hose, and then put a plywood cover over it covered by a quilt so that it heats up quicker. Then I shall hop in and say AHHHHHH.
I plan on putting it in a corner garden area so I will just have to put a clothesline across the front for privacy since the corner is already "private" from the 6" fence and my hydrangea etc.
My daughter and I are looking forward to making it all girly girl.
I will surely keep you posted and post pics when it is complete.
Good luck in your quest CJ- I have no doubt that you can pull this off! Keep us posted!

I'm curious, too, how you'll heat the water? Like at MJs' B&B with the propane burners underneath?
I'm gonna have to go on a hunt for a tub . . not too many of those around these parts!

That is pretty nice. Do you bring the hot water out to it, or is it a cold bath or a sunwarmed bath? Looking forward to the pictures when you have it all in place.

My daughter, Robin and I, were able to stay at MaryJane's Outpost B&B last summer and experience the outdoor tub soak! It was WONDERFUL!!!!
This was "our tub" . . . the pics of me or Robin in it? Not a chance! ;)

Oh yes, please send pics when you have it all set up! I am so intrigued with the idea that MJF has at their B&B. Better and an upscale hot tub! A perfect summer night idea under the stars! Fun!

OK, a tub for plants or decoration is great, I could use one for decoration or actually for the house to bathe in since they are sooo roomy. But to be honest all I can think of a claw foot tub is the viagra comercials, a couple outside in two separate tubs. I just don't get it, why not one tub that fits two??

God bless,

Thanks Ladies!
I plan on keeping it outside and having a summertime "Outdoor" bath. I have a corner in my yard in front of a hydrangea, and I am going to do it all up farmgirl style. I thought it was a real steal...only paid $50 Bucks for it! As I said the inside is near perfect- just have to re-paint the outside. I will post pics when I have the "finished product".

Nice! Will you keep it outside, or finish it for inside? Keep us posted. I'd love to see the finished picture.
