I am not a greatly experienced gardener, so I am thinking many of you will know right away, but this is the first time I have seen this plant flower. First right answer will get some flower seeds, 2 Christian novels, and whatever else I can put together that might be fun! Maybe some vintage linens......

You are welcome Sheila! I hope you have not already read the books. We went to the Amana Colonies last September and I really enjoyed those books when I read them. I visited your blog and I really like it. By the looks of the photo of your quilt on the big window, it looks as if you home school. My daughter does that and I help her. I love it! Loved the quilt on your window!!!

Looks like leek blossoms?? ...members of the onion family

I have a bag full of seeds that need to be planted some day.

Nothing like potato and leek soup.

Here is a picture of our onion tops. They are from last years seeds from the seed pods.

Yes, we cut them up for gumbos, scrambled eggs; great flavor!!!!! I found a picture of ours, I have to download it to photobucket first, then I'll post it here.

I have those onion tops, that's what we call them, growing in my yard now. I'll post a picture later. We save the seeds from the top flower pods, that way we always have plenty of growing onion tops. I love them in scrambled eggs, gumbo, etc...

Yay! :) My kids love to find those in the spring, from where we forgot an onion the year before--they are all onion lovers so they pick the stalks and munch on them :)

Sheila is right! But they are not wild. We left some of our onions, grown from seed, in the ground since last summer, wondering how seeds come from the plants which grow, and get pulled out and eaten. I love the delicate flower it made! And seeds will be coming right behind! Sheila, email me your address and I will send you a little gift!!!!

I think Sheila is right...the are wild onions. Pull one up see. We used to have an area of them when I was a kid & my dad would mow them off & boy the onion smell was something!
