Posted - Mar 13 2012 : 07:25:49 AM I just this morning saw an armadillo go under my pier and beam house. How can I get it out and keep it out? One site says cat fur because that's a predator, but my cats are under the house all the time and that doesn't seem to have worked. Thanks!

Posted - Mar 29 2012 : 5:38:10 PM You know what Cajuns do with them, don't you? They make stew!!! Any roadkill will do, though. Seriously, we never had that problem when we lived in Cajun Country. Wish I could help you.

Posted - Mar 16 2012 : 05:31:47 AM Thanks, Nicole. I will try that. I haven't seen him/her since, but I'm sure they are still there.
Thanks, everyone, for all the suggestions. I do have the red pepper flakes at the entrance, so we will see.

Posted - Mar 16 2012 : 04:59:11 AM Spoke to my dad. He says take an old pair of pantyhose, place some mothballs in it, and put under your house. The armadillo will move out. You don't have to put so many that the smell overpowers you if you are on the porch. He says that is the best.

Posted - Mar 15 2012 : 7:32:48 PM rent a live trap from your local feed store, and then relocate yourself, much cheaper...use fruit/veggys for bait...when done, board-up/fence off, or something similar to keep new comers out...

Posted - Mar 13 2012 : 4:44:02 PM I wonder how much Billy would charge if in Texas. One pest guy told me to use the no kill traps and relocate could cost $400.
I used one on-line suggestion and sprinkled red pepper flakes at the opening where he goes in. I'll see if that deters him/her.

Posted - Mar 13 2012 : 1:03:32 PM My brother lives in Texas and he had an armadillo tearing up his yard so he bought a BB gun. It didn't cause any permanent damage to the armadillo and it never came back after that. Cindy

Posted - Mar 13 2012 : 11:00:44 AM That WOULD be an interesting problem . . . not one we have here in Colorado since we don't have them. But we have all other kinds of things to deal with, such as skunks, raccoons, squirrels . . . Of course, I have no suggestions for armadillos. CJ

Posted - Mar 13 2012 : 08:45:18 AM LOL! Moth balls is one remedy that was mentioned. Thanks for the tip - I won't use them! Another "remedy" says cat fur and urine, but my cats are under the house all the time, so obviously that isn't working.

Posted - Mar 13 2012 : 08:39:51 AM We have tried all kinds of different ways to get rid of those armadillos. We have a slightly raised deck in the back of the house. Those critters would get under the deck, with the cats, at night. My hubby decided to throw moth balls under the deck, hoping the armadillo would move on. Did not happen, but it sure made us move away from the deck for a while. The smell was over powering. Good luck. Marly
