I spent most of last weekend cleaning for "spring" and ended up taking out all the clutter in our room that has accumulated, well, since Violet was born. When we don't have room for it, but don't want to give it away, it ends up in the study or in our bedroom, both of which have become unbearable to me and neither are placed I enjoy being. Even though I didn't set out to do it, I purged, purged, purged and now the bedroom is what I've always wanted--I even took out linens from my closet that were in the "too good to use right now" pile, or the "wait until you get things perfect" pile because the tornadoes hit close to home for me, both literally and figuratively. I'm using stuff now instead of holding onto it for another day that might not ever come.

Here is my finished product--moved some stuff around, rearranged pictures on the shelf. Even hung a picture I bought from Miss Wilma several years ago and never "loved" where I put it--NOW it's in its rightful spot. In the last two pictures, you can see my "Finn" wall, as well as the sweet family of bunnies that Frannie (our farmigirl in Texas) made that I love so very much.

You are an inspiration to me as I'm slowly purging my bedroom of clutter. Selling unwanted items on eBay,giving away some to friends, and some is headed to the recycle bin. I want my room to be as roomy & divine as yours!

Beautiful! You do not want to see my bedroom....ugh! It's wall to wall craft-city right now. I can't wait to put "peaceful" back in my own bedroom.

Thanks so much, Suzanne--it's still refreshing, each and every day I walk in that room since I've tackled it. It feels really nice to have a "space" that's not cluttered by three year old's toys, or my husband's airplane modelling magazines (or planes in various construction). It's just a really nice, peaceful place--one that I can call my own (even though I allow my dh to sleep there, too ;))

BEAUTIFUL!!
I know how it feels!
About a year ago I was able to "redo" my bedroom and I'm just so happy with the result . . . "cottage-y", peaceful . . . more pleasing.
I agree with "enjoy it" . . . you never know when you won't be able to.

@Amie, that's one of the nicest compliments anyone has ever given me. Thank you for that--It's not always perfect, but I do try to make home a welcome place for our little clan.

Thanks for the compliments, girls--it really is a place I love being and I've gotten better sleep than I have in some time. I think what they say is true about your bedroom being a place where serenity sets up house. I know that if I had a tv or anything else in there other than books, I'd never rest. Justin (my dh) has been working about 60 hours a week and is exhausted most of the time--he told me that on the drive home, he thinks about that bedroom longingly, now that I've made it so nice to come home to. And, he's been really good about putting his clothes IN the hamper, which also helps ;)

So pretty! Everytime I see your house in the background of a Violet picture I notice how lovely it looks. A happy house for a happy family.

Jonni, I think I'd definitely be relaxed in your room! Enjoy the new space!

Very pretty Jonni!
Good for you- its such a great feeling isnt it? And kudos to you for using the "too good" items that we all tend to pack away!

Thanks, April--it really makes me feel like I "want" to be there, now--before, it was just full of clothes and things I really just kept putting off finding things for. Now, you can dance in our room the floor is so free of clutter!

It's been really nice reading bedtime stories to our little one in the bed--I can focus on the story as opposed to looking off the foot of the bed and thinking, "what a mess! What if there was a fire?!"

Glad to inspire--can't wait to see your "haven"!

I love it! It seems very peaceful. You are so right about using what you have now instead of waiting for some "perfect time." You feel so inspired and refreshed when you do use those things don't you! I think I need to go and do the same! Why wait...seize the day!

Thanks for the inspiration!
~April :)
