I brought this home from the Estate house we have been working at to wash. Any idea of the age or how much we should tag it for?

This is just a one time thing. My daughter works taking care of an older couple who now live in assisted living. The house they lived in all there married life is full of their stuff, they want my daughter to sort it all out and then do an estate sale. So I'm helping her. Then the family hopes to sell the house. They are paying my daughter and since I'm helping they said for me to feel free to take things within reason that I want.

i also believe the quilt is from the 50s+. i dont really see fabrics earlier than that. do you.
i used to have a book that dated fabric in quilts,,,,but where it is , i cant know. my house, etc. is in total disarray.
 
i found this unfinished crib quilt at our goodwill for $5 . i plan on finishing it up and selling it or gifting it to someone who needs a crib quilt.
in our area the older quilts only sell for about 35-45. but in good shape with a special pattern or coloration in dallas you can find them with much higher price tags. much higher.
please let us know what happens to the quilt.

I think the fabrics are really the only way to date it. There are books out there that help identify fabric patterns by decade. You might want to look in your local library and check your guess of 1940s-1950s.
I don't know how involved you want to get with selling items for this elderly couple, but you might want to offer the quilt on ebay or craigslist before the actual estate sale. My sense is that we all expect really great bargains at an estate sale. Either way, you could look at what similar quilts are going for on ebay and use that as a guide for pricing it. |

I would say like 40's or 30's
You should have it appraised ; you wouldn't want a vauliable quilt to loose a good price . maybe take it to a local anitque mark . hugs sheila

Boy between the excellent thrift you have near you and the estate sale you will be running, I sure wish that I lived closer to you! Not to mention it would be so nice to be near another farmgirl- especially one as sweet as you!
