I'm trying to sell some furniture from my dad's house. I took pics and when I tried posting them on Craig's List, they wouldn't load. My dh downsized them twice using a paint program in Windows, but still no luck. He insists if he makes them any smaller, they won't be visible. I only have his work laptop to use when it's here at home. Anybody have any ideas about what I'm doing wrong?? I've donated tons of stuff from his house, but I thought I could get him some money from some of the furniture. We could use it to do any repairs to his house before we put it up for sale. Thanks for any suggestions.

I bet she would, frannie. And she'll get a chance later in the summer. I promised the guy I'll go to the car show and take pics for myself! He showed me his deisgns for the trunk(big pic of Elvis) and the interior(leopard print). I'll post them for sure! LOL!

Today was better. I sold a set of Samsonite shocking pink luggage from the 70's to a really nice couple who were here for a classic car show. He is restoring a 58 pink cadillac with an Elvis theme and wants to put the luggage in the open trunk! LOL! He's bringing it here for another show in August and I told him I'd be there to take a pic for sure! :)

Janice, I would delete that email now, put it in spam. Scary....... Good luck in the future.

Well, frannie...today, I got a scam email. Not happy. It came from a man and read like some kind of a form letter and the sender had an insistant tone, and made it sound like he was responding to a previous email from me(did not happen). He said he was sending me a bank check(I said 'cash only'in my ad). and he wanted my name, address, etc. He told me to take the ad off craigs list immediately and that the check would come via UPS and when I had the money, he would arrange for a pick up. He also claimed to be deaf and said we would communicate via email only. DH said 'delete that one'. Hope it gets better from here.

I shrink pixels to 255 X 191 for our used car business and they go thru fine.

If it's still not working, upload pics to photobucket, then use the html tags in the body of your add.

I tried this for a couple days last week, and then was told that sometimes, say between 4-7p.m. it's almost impossible to get anything on there.....I hate to admit to stupidity, but finally figured out I wasn't finishing my post, you have to hit continue, continue, continue, until the green screen comes up that says you have succeded, or something similar!! Keep trying!!

good luck with the pics, janice. i have had the same problem, but then we always had dial up and then periodically our whole computer system would just go south for a while.
we now have wireless, and it seems more reliable at uploading, but i have to admit i havent tried craigslist in a while.
i hope it works for you. keep us posted.

Also make sure they are only 72 dpi (dots per inch) resolution. Computer screens and monitors can only handle that. That may be the problem they may still be too large to upload. Any higher resolution is for printing purposes only.

Just a thought...is your program only resizing them in terms of display or also in terms of quality/pixels? When I post pics on craigslist, I export them out of iphoto and I get a choice of jpeg quality (small or medium works). I have't found a way to resize this way inside the editing program, which seems weird but there it is.

Also, even if you are using small images craigslist takes forever to load them (like, several minutes sometimes). You might just not be waiting long enough.

Sometimes I've had problems posting pictures on Craigslist, and then when I try the next day it works :) Also--sometimes I've had to add one picture at a time.
