I found a LOVELY Vintage (Large) L.L.Bean Barn Jacket with a removable red plaid wool lining and a creamy corduroy collar yesterday at the thrift.

When I got home, I took out the wool lining and used woolite to clean that and hang it up to air dry. I washed the denim outside shell with the CRUDDY creamy corduroy collar (say that fast five times!) after using a stain remover on the collar, but it did NOT come clean. Yuck! It's just gross and yellow and very obvious....

Any suggestions on how to get "ring" around the collar stains out??

Talk to me ladies....

I would try Dawn dishwashing soap too. That works well. If not, I like the idea of dying it too. Good luck - it sounds very nice.

If it doesn't come out, you could consider dying it...maybe black?

Good luck!

I'm a big believer in Fels Naptha Soap. It's what our grandmothers used to do laundry. It's also an ingredient in my homemade detergent. But when I have an awful stain, I wet the fabric and wet the bar of Fels Naptha and then scrub it it. Let it sit a while and then launder. Sometimes it takes more than once but it bring out a lot of stains.

make a baking soda paste, smooth it on the ring, let it dry and repeat 3-4 times, when it looks like it is pretty well sucked out (the stain), make a volcano lava with baking soda and vinegar , dribble back on collar, let fizz until it stops, and rinse, repeat as nessasary...
