Hi ladies -

My boyfriend and I are hoping to go to Harpers Ferry, WV this summer on a short vacation. Do any of you live near there or know anything about the area? We are looking for a reasonably priced place to stay, places to visit (or not visit), etc.

Thank you!
Luanne

I used to live near there. It's a very small hilly town and most tourists walk instead of drive around. It gets terribly congested in the summer with river rafters visiting. I've lived out of the area since 2002 so things may have changed but when we went there, there were just a few craft shops and small restaurants. It's a very pretty area but I don't think I'd want to stay for more than a few days. Westminster, MD is nearby and that's a very pretty place (I lived there, so is Charlestown and Washington, DC. I could spend at least a week trying to see the sights in Washington. Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great time.
