Today I leave for a four day vacation - our annual ladies weekend with my mom, grandma, two aunts and a cousin. We always have a great time! It's fun to have our time away from home (and a break from the kids!), do girly things, and just spend time chatting and hanging out. Looking forward to the relaxation and the perspective that always comes from the time spent away. Will miss talking to everyone in the forum while I'm gone...be back Sunday!

Do any of you ever get girls weekends away? This is actually our "payback" for the guys getting their deer hunting vacation. Hey, what's good for the goose.... ;)

Good for you Amy - and Grace - and Luanne. I think Grace said it well - it definitely is good for the soul.

My two sisters and I try to get together every other year - I live in IL, one lives in CA, and the other lives in FL - so its a bit challenging at times. But we have a great time. A couple years ago, we brought our daughters, and one of our cousins and aunt came too. We had a blast...

I also do short over-nighters with friends whenever I can. You don't have to go far to have a good time. Its just getting away from it all...

Have a great time, Amy...

I truly believe that a "girls get away' is good for the soul.
Be it with your daughter, mother, sister, beloved aunts, grandmas, best friends, etc.
I go on a lot of 3-4 day Glamping trips from Spring to Autum with my Gal-pals...most of the trips are with in a 2hour drive to home.... I enjoy being on my own away from the daily chores of maintaning a home, and 5 acres property not to mention, litter box, laundery, cooking etc, And my beloved husband understands my need to escape for a few days...just as he loves his escapes to go fishing for 3 days... only difference is I don't smell like fish when I return home! lol!
I am a firm believer that a "playdate" is truly good for us...even if it is just a day long trip into town, a museum, shopping or meeting up w/a best friend to hide out at the movies followed by a lunch & gab fest or just a day of Junktiquing.....
It's important we treat our selves special....because ,,,, we are!

My best friend Annie and I always take off on a long weekend in March and go to a huge Amish "mud sale" in Lancaster County, PA. If you're not familiar with the term, it is basically an auction, but it takes place during mud season here (and yes, it is incredibly muddy)! There are antiques, household goods, animals and tons of quilts up for auction. We always go a day early so we can preview the auction goods and do some sightseeing and shopping at the Amish farms. Then we spend a day at the auction and spend the next day doing a little more sightseeing and shopping before we come home.

This year we will be leaving on March 9th - can't wait.

Have a wonderful time Amy!
