Posted - Jan 21 2012 : 07:04:33 AM My mother will be 80 March 9th. We have been hearing about people doing crazy cool things for their big milestone birthdays latley. Like the lady who just turned 100 and got her ears pierced. Or the lady that bungee jumped off a bridge or jumped out of an airplane.
So I called her this morning and said she needs to think of something to do on her 80th. She's thinking about it and told us all to think of some things too. She will NOT jump out of a plane. She did say the lady she's working with knows someone who teaches hang gliding. She's considering that.
I would love to hear of some really fun exciting things for her to think about doing. She is healthy and pretty strong. Her bones are not that great. She does wear wigs too. I said she should get a purple or blue wig.
So get your thinking caps on and help us out!

Posted - Jan 22 2012 : 3:09:19 PM Thank you all so much for all your suggestions. I love them all. But she is set on a tandem hang gliding ride. She said a hot air balloon was too dangerous. As well as the helicopter ride. We are too far from an ocean to swim with dolphins, although I would love to do that myself. And no to the zip line. Too scary. And to the tattoo. So it looks like she might be jumping off Lookout Mt. pretty soon! And she said no to the airplane taking the hang glider up. She's rather jump off the mountain. Not me. So we are going to talk to her friend who knows the guy who teaches hang gliding and see where to start her. This is exciting! Now I will be a nervous wreck.
Thanks again and I told her all the happy birthdays too. She said thanks!

Posted - Jan 21 2012 : 2:07:19 PM I can't remember which birthday it was, but we got my gram a certificate for a hot air balloon ride. She loved it! It's something that would be wild enough, but no danger to her getting hurt.

Posted - Jan 21 2012 : 1:03:47 PM Good ideas - I'm torn between the hot air balloon ride and swimming with the dolphins. Either would be fantastic. I'm sure whatever you decide on will be great. Keep us posted.

Posted - Jan 21 2012 : 08:41:35 AM How about a skating party! Grandchildren could be on each side of her. Or, take her mudding in a truck. She would probably get a good laugh out of that. I think it's a hoot that she wants to do something crazy and cool. Happy Birthday to your Mom. Marly
