My husband has a third interview with a company in Austin, Texas, next week, and we're wondering about the area. Is downtown livable and safe? Any recommended neighborhoods? We're coming from Michigan and know absolutely nothing about Texas (besides its location on a map!)

Jessie: I think Austin is awesome. Our son and his wife live there and researched a lot before moving. They think it is great and so do I. Lots to do and a very pretty city. Good luck.

Well - Jessie Mae, I live nowhere near Texas but I did visit Austin once and absolutely loved it - other farmgirls can speak to neighborhoods/safety etc. - but I ate a lot of good food and saw a lot of good music. We walked everywhere and I felt safe - hope that helps a little:) Good luck with the big transition if it comes through!! Keep us posted.
