I just got home from a very well organized Arts and Crafts show just a few blocks from my home to benefit our High School Forensics Team. I have done this show 4 years in a row and did phenomenally well today!

What a way to end our By the Bay Handcrafted Soap 2011 season...

My jams and jellys flew off the table as did my hand knit "half-mittens" and I sold out on several of my hand crafted soaps! The crowds were friendly, asked a lot of good questions and SPENT some cash-Very reassuring after a pretty tough summer doing art shows.

I have to admit I think our "local" economy might just be turning a corner up here in the Great North Woods or it could be the Holiday season and people are once again looking for good Made in the USA bargains! Either way it felt pretty good knowing that people were buying locally made products-

I spent the afternoon volunteering for the Semi-annual Art for All craft show at our local Catholic Worker House. Everything is handmade and several items are from recycled materials. Just beautiful items with sales going to support programs for the homeless in our community. IT was so much fun! I was running the checkout booth and I think we did really well for sales too. Plus, I was able to pick up some wonderful holiday gift items!! Perfect!! Everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves and I cannot think of an easier way to shop for friends and family. Yes, made in the USA and made Local is just the BEST!!
