Today here on Long Island was a beautiful 65 degree day! I was fortunate enough to visit a local favorite- Old Bethpage Village Restoration- an 1800's recreated village. It was a lovely day!

Ha, ah! Hi Jen,
Actually we didnt get ANYTHING to eat! The village is a grouping of buildings from the surrounding area from the 1800's that were moved to this location. Basically the idea is that you walk around from building to building- various houses where they do hearth/beehive/reflector/wood stove cooking. Today they were of course roasting turkey, chicken, making apple butter,"mock cherry pie" (with raisins and cranberries), sucotash, etc. There is an old school house, church, saloon, etc and of course a blacksmith, hatter, broom maker, etc. It is a neat place for sure. Of course I could just hop right in and live in one of those houses today! My husband teases me that I was born in the wrong century- and I think he is right!
At Christmas time they do candlelight tours which I think I am going to check out this year too. Fun stuff for sure!
Smiles,

An 1863 thanksgiving would be quite lean indeed being that it was well into the civil war by then, I certainly hope you got a better meal than that Laurie ;)

Looks like a seriously cool afternoon!
