Boy did we get a shock this morning. Our little mini-longhaired dachshund has been pretty sick since last Thursday. She has something called Cherry Eye and we were afraid she would have to have surgery. But the vet had us putting a steroid ointment in her eye all weekend and she just got worse...fever, lethargic and just all around pitiful. When I took her back to the vet on Monday, she had lost almost a lb since Thursday. Well, come to find out, she has Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and that is what has also caused the Cherry Eye. She is on tetracycline for 21 days

Just thought that I would warn you to watch your dogs because we keep Frontline on her religiously and she only goes outside for the short time she uses the bathroom. The vet says that he is seeing it in dogs that are totally in the house on the prescription pour-on stuff and that it is really bad this year. Don't know when she got a tick but it doesn't take but one bite even if the tick stuff kills them after they bite.

Hope your furbaby feels better soon! Thanks for the info. We have had a terrible time with ticks recently.

Poor little thing. Glad you had it diagnosed and you were able to take care of her.

Thanks, Natalie. She seems a little better already after her first dose of tetracycline!
